Job Description
- Knowledge of communication systems, including wireless networking (troubleshooting, performance tuning/optimization), RF radios, UDP/TCP protocols, etc.
- Experience designing and developing Domain Specific Languages (DSL) and related compilers
- Familiarity with C++17
- Familiarity with Conan/CMake
- Robotics, game engine, and/or GPU experience
- Manage a team of 7-9 talented engineers.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, design reviews, and technical decisions.
- Set process standards, drive strategic technical improvements.
- Align technical approaches with long-term roadmaps.
- Work with autonomy and simulation teams to improve EdgeOS.
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience (or equivalent with higher education).
- 2+ years of people leadership experience.
- 5+ years of experience in C++11 or later.
- Strong foundation of C++ API design.

Shield AI is seeking an expert software engineer and world-class leader to scale and guide our Hivemind Foundations team into the next phase of execution. The Hivemind Foundations team is chartered with creating an integrated product, EdgeOS, that provides the foundational software layers upon which Hivemind Pilot autonomy is constructed and operated. The EdgeOS Communications team is responsible for building out high-reliability distributed network capabilities that enable robot teaming. As the leader of this team, you will oversee the team building, architecture, design, implementation, processes, and quality of execution to deliver this essential product to internal and external customers.
What You'll Do

Required Qualifications
- Typically requires a minimum of 7 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or 5 years with a PhD; or equivalent work experience. Computer Science
- 2+ years of people leadership experience
- 5+ years of experience in C++11 or later
- Strong foundation of C++ API design
- Experience shipping and supporting a software product
- Demonstrated record of working hard, being a kind and trustworthy teammate, and holding yourself and others to high standards
