Job Description

The Engineering Manager will lead the Ad Tech Team, focusing on ad rendering, building innovative ad products, and monetizing video content. Responsibilities include leading technical strategy, driving the development of direct advertising products, improving the ad experience, and implementing best practices in software development. The role involves team development, operational efficiency through monitoring ad performance, strategic vision in ad tech, and cross-functional collaboration. The manager will lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, ensuring solutions comply with privacy regulations and collaborating with various teams to refine ad targeting strategies. The goal is to deliver impactful solutions, improve revenue, and resolve ad performance issues.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ in management.
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable ad rendering systems.
  • Strong technical background in frontend systems and web development.
  • Experience with programming languages like TypeScript or JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of ad tech standards, frameworks (OpenRTB, IAB).

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Ad Tech Team, which plays a critical role in ad rendering, building innovative ad products, and monetizing video content. This role combines strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership skills to drive the development of systems that ensure compliance, improve revenue, and resolve ad performance issues through robust tracking and alerting solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions while fostering a high-performing team culture.

You Will...

  • Technical Leadership
    • Lead technical strategy and execution to improve video experience and video monetization on the company's websites.
    • Define and drive the development of the direct advertising product.
    • Continuously enhance the overall ad experience and user experience on fandom websites.
    • Champion and implement best practices in software development, experimentation, and agile methodologies.
  • Team Development & Talent Management
    • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, fostering an inclusive and innovative environment.
    • Provide career guidance and clear performance expectations to ensure team success.
  • Operational Efficiency
    • Drive the creation of scalable, efficient, and reliable systems to monitor and improve ad performance.
    • Ensure that solutions adhere to privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and incorporate effective consent management.
  • Strategic AdTech Vision & Execution
    • Align team objectives with business goals and develop actionable roadmaps to achieve them.
    • Stay ahead of industry trends in ad tech and incorporate them into team strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Collaborate with product, analytics, and ad operations teams to refine ad targeting strategies and improve the ad experience.
    • Effectively communicate with stakeholders to align priorities and resolve roadblocks.

You Have...

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing scalable systems for ad rendering and delivering.
  • Strong technical background in frontend systems and web development.
  • Experience with programming languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, or similar.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
