The Materials Manager will oversee the storage and distribution activities to maximize facility and resource utilization. Responsibilities include managing shipping and receiving, ensuring inventory accuracy, and coordinating warehouse operations like kitting and cycle counting. The role involves managing staff, evaluating performance, and seeking continuous improvement. The manager will be responsible for data-driven KPI reporting and managing a 24/7 shop. They will administer operational procedures and ensure efficient handling of materials, as well as implementing warehouse safety measures.

Position Summary:

Manages and coordinates storage and distribution activities of the company to ensure maximum utilization of facilities and resources.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Administers operational procedures for activities, such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse accuracy  and acceptable for inventory. 
  • Assures products, parts, or supplies are shipped, distributed, or received in an efficient manner.  
  • Works with Director in ensuring coordination of warehouse activities such as kitting for production, cycle counting, resource management.  
  • Takes precautions to secure warehouse contents against loss. Evaluates inventory on hand.  
  • Manages salvage of damaged or used material. Screens, hires, trains staff, evaluates employee performance, and recommends or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action for warehouse personnel. 
  • May participate in planning personnel-safety and plant-protection activities.  Responsible for accuracy of receiving, put-a-ways and Kanban shipping.
  • Seeks continuous improvement in activities of those individuals within position influence.
  • Data driven and reporting of KPI’s
  • Manage a 24X7 shop
     

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Lean Manufacturing Experience
  • Knowledge of Kanban inventory management process
  • Working knowledge of ERP / MRP Systems, Oracle preferred
  • Strong office software skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Strong knowledge of resource management

Position Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain management, operations management, business, economics, engineering, preferred

Experience: 

5+ years of experience in a manufacturing warehouse environment

2+ years of leading/managing a team

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Manufacturing Environment

May lift up to 50 lbs. regularly

Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time

Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer
