Tesla's drive unit development team seeks a skilled Mechanical Engineering intern to contribute to the design and improvement of next-generation drive units for electric vehicles. Responsibilities include 3D modeling of mechanical components (plastics, sheet metal, etc.), developing test fixtures and plans, creating drawing packages, troubleshooting design/production issues, and collaborating with electrical and production engineering teams. The internship involves utilizing CATIA V5/V6 and ANSYS for design and analysis. This is a 6-month internship located at the Gigafactory in Berlin-Brandenburg, starting March/April 2025.

What You’ll Do
Design and 3D modeling of mechanical components and assemblies including plastics, sheet metal, insulation systems, and other components
Develop test fixtures and engineering test plans for components design validation
Create drawing packages and manufacturing instructions for parts and assemblies
Investigate design and production problems and implement creative solutions
Collaborate with electrical and production engineering teams to successfully design, validate and manufacture drive units
What You’ll Bring
B.Sc. B.Eng / M.Sc. M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering, or the equivalent in experience, and evidence of exceptional ability
Experience using 3D mechanical design and analysis tools (CATIA V5 and/or V6, ANSYS)
Proven interest in mechanical design engineering through extracurricular activities and projects
Familiarity in a programming language such as Python or MATLAB.
