Job Description

As a Modernization Architect at Luxoft, you will be a pivotal part of the Application Modernization Practice, focusing on transforming legacy systems. You will collaborate with sales, delivery, and clients to design and oversee the execution of modernization solutions, integrating GenAI accelerators to deliver business value. Key responsibilities include designing discovery and modernization paths from legacy to modern architectures, leading effort estimation, participating in sales engagements, and providing architectural oversight during project execution.
Must Have:
  • Collaborate to design discovery, documentation, and modernization paths from legacy systems to modern stacks.
  • Lead effort estimation, tool strategy selection, and transformation approach definition.
  • Take part in sales engagements: assessments, proposals, orals, presentations, and business case creation.
  • Provide architectural oversight during project execution.
  • Align client-specific solutions with MPC strategy and shared GenAI tooling.
  • Participate in evaluations and PoCs involving GenAI and automation accelerators.
  • 10 years in enterprise software architecture, preferably with 3 years in modernization.
  • Proven ability to assess legacy estates and define future-state architectures.
  • Proficiency in mainframe tech (z/TPF, Sabretalk, COBOL, IMS DB, DB2, CICS) and modern stacks (Python, Java, C#, relational and graph databases).
  • Experience with any public cloud provider and knowledge of cloud architecture and distributed systems' patterns.
  • Familiarity with containers and orchestration systems (Kubernetes/PKS/OpenShift).
  • Exposure to GenAI use cases in application engineering and, ideally, code conversion.
  • Familiarity with static code analysis approaches.
  • Experience of working in distributed teams.
  • Strong client communication, technical documentation, and stakeholder alignment skills.
  • Experience of work with English-speaking customers (US customers are a plus).

Application Modernization Practice is a horizontal practice, supporting all business verticals in DXC, with focus on the transformation of the legacy systems. As a Modernization Architect, you'll play a pivotal role in both shaping modernization solutions and supervising delivery execution. You will partner with sales, delivery, and clients to design transformations from legacy to modern architectures, integrating GenAI accelerators and helping deliver tangible business value.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management, analytics, and development to design discovery, documentation, and modernization paths from legacy systems (Sabretalk, z/TPF, etc.) to modern stacks (COTS software integrations, Java, MSA, public clouds).
  • Lead effort estimation, tool strategy selection, and transformation approach definition.
  • Take part in sales engagements: assessments, proposals, orals, presentations, and business case creation.
  • Provide architectural oversight during project execution.
  • Align the client-specific solutions with MPC strategy and shared GenAI tooling.
  • Participate in evaluations and PoCs involving GenAI and automation accelerators.

Skills

Must have

  • 10 years in enterprise software architecture, preferably with 3 years in modernization.
  • Proven ability to assess legacy estates and define future-state architectures.
  • Desired proficiency in mainframe tech (z/TPF, Sabretalk, COBOL, IMS DB, DB2, CICS) and mandatory in modern stacks (Python, Java, C#, relational and graph databases).
