Microsoft AI (MAI) seeks an experienced Member of Technical Staff - Web Foundations Lead to build Copilot web experiences for Edge Browser and Windows OS. Responsibilities include hiring and managing a web engineering team, delivering high-quality AI-powered experiences, collaborating with design and product leadership, building performant front-end infrastructure, and working with a team of experienced engineers. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with deep frontend expertise, a user-centric approach, and a passion for building excellent products. The role requires in-office presence 3 days a week in the San Francisco area.

By applying to this U.S. Mountain View, CA position, you are required to be local to the San Francisco area and in office 3 days a week. 
 
Responsibilities 
In this role, you will: 
 
  • Hire, manage and lead a team of web engineers responsible for the quality and performance of Copilot’s web products 
  • Ship delightful, AI powered experiences that will shape how millions of people will interact with AI in the future 
  • Collaborate with Eng, Design and Product leadership to prioritize features and deliver a world-class AI companion to the world 
  • Design and build a performant front-end infrastructure that drives multiple complex web applications 
  • Join a small team of world class product engineers with deep frontend expertise who are obsessed with building beautiful and performant products.

Qualifications 
 
Required Qualifications; 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6 years technical engineering experience with web technologies including, but not limited to, Typescript and React  
  • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 3 years people management experience. 
 
Preferred Qualifications; 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8 years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Typescript and React
  • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 6 years people management experience. 
  • Take a user-centric approach to product development, prioritizing solutions that result in the best user experience and have the technical expertise to pull it off. 
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are comfortable making progress in ambiguity. 
  • Enjoy working closely with cross-functional partners and teammates in an inclusive, curious culture. 
 
Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
