Our mission is to grow and strengthen the marketplace by building strategic partnerships and guiding long-term planning. We work with external partners on both the supply and demand sides to expand our offerings and reach. Internally, we collaborate closely with teams like Product, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to ensure our partnerships and growth initiatives align with company priorities and deliver meaningful value to our customers, pros, and partners.
The New Ventures team sits within Business Development and is tasked with ideating, incubating, and standing up new “bets” within Thumbtack. They think like GMs and work cross functionally and co-own strategy, partner development, product strategy, and on the ground execution of the “new ventures” they are building. These teams create value by identifying new opportunities outside of Thumbtack’s core business, and often focus on creating net new experiences for new user segments. The main objective and ultimate goal for the team is to enable the overall success of our new ventures.
The New Ventures Manager is responsible for the strategy and execution of “new ventures” within Thumbtack. These new ventures can be a variety of opportunities, including entering new verticals, and/or building net new products and/experiences.. The New Ventures Manager will accelerate the development of these opportunities by being an “owner” and thinking like a GM to create strategy, develop partnerships (when applicable), co-build GTM motions, and roll their sleeves up to execute on the ground tactics. The New Ventures Manager will work with the broader Business Development leadership team to continuously improve our frameworks for identifying, prioritizing, executing, and iterating on strategic distribution opportunities. This person will work closely with our embedded cross-functional partners across Product, Design, Engineering, Marketing, Data Science, Sales, Commercial Strategy, and other BizDev teams to ensure that the joint goals, objectives, and needs of our business are met/exceeded, and result in unlocking future growth opportunities for Thumbtack.
