Job Summary

The Obsolescence Management Engineer is responsible for determining valid lists of use for engines and systems, identifying ongoing material changes and duplicates, and ensuring compliance with export control and quality reporting. This role involves preparing applications and documents for the OM Board and collecting relevant data for RFQs. The engineer will also check for deviation allowances and open FIRE points.

Must Have

  • Determine valid lists of use (engines, systems) including preparation and assignment to applications.
  • Identify further ongoing changes for the material number and duplicates.
  • Check for export control, config relevance, NPP, and NATO supply numbers.
  • Identify deviation allowances (AE's), ongoing/open FIRE points, and quality reporting.
  • Prepare applications including documents required for the OM Board.
  • Collect and pre-evaluate OM relevant data for each RFQ.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • At least 03-05 years working experience in this domain.
  • Expertise in PTC Creo (modelling/assembly and detailing) and Windchill.
  • Experience in working with Diesel Engine Base Engine component and its function.
  • Ability to interpret structural analytics FEA results.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering/Manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to drive projects/tasks independently and push cross functions to get results.
  • Experience in qualification process and knowledge in testing for diesel engine components.
  • Experience in handling request for qualification process.
  • Experience in dealing with field issues with respect to obsolescence management.
  • Ability to deal with local and global stakeholders.
  • Experienced to interpret/validate the test specifications/results for different diesel engine components.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Determination of the valid lists of use (engines, systems) including preparation and assignment to the applications.
  • Identification of further ongoing changes for the material number, identification of duplicates
  • Check for export control, config relevance (“Nullstand” with MGTSP), as well as NPP and NATO supply numbers
  • Identification on deviation allowances (AE ́s), ongoing/open FIRE points and quality reporting. Listing in OMM Board List.
  • Preparation of the applications including the documents required for the OM Board, e.g. in the form of PDF files
  • Accountable for Collecting and pre evaluate of OM relevant Data´s for each RFQ

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a reputed college / University
  • Has at least 03-05 yrs. working experience in this domain.
  • Expertise in PTC Creo (modelling/assembly and detailing) and Windchill
  • Experience in working with Diesel Engine Base Engine component and its function, able to interpret structural analytics FEA results.
  • Should have strong understanding of mechanical engineering/Manufacturing processes like casting, forging, machining, die and pattern, Sheet metal, piping etc.
  • Ability to drive the project/task to independently. Ability to push cross functions to get results.
  • Experience in qualification process and Knowledge in testing for diesel engine components.
  • Experience in handling request for qualification process.
  • Experience in dealing field issues with respect to obsolescence management.
  • Ability to deal with local and global stack holder.
  • Experienced to interpret/validate the test specifications/ Results for different diesel engine components.
