Our client is an UK subsidiary of a Global Financial Institution.
Role is for an experienced Business Analyst/Tester to join their project and contribute to the successful upgrade of our ISO-compliant payment engine. In this role, you will play a critical part in analyzing business requirements, ensuring that the upgraded payment engine meets industry standards (ISO 20022), and thoroughly testing the new system functionalities. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, developers, and quality assurance teams, to ensure the seamless integration of the new payment engine.
Business Analysis:
-> Requirements Gathering:
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and document detailed requirements for the ISO payment engine upgrade, ensuring alignment with ISO 20022 standards and business objectives.
Translate business needs into technical specifications and functional requirements for the development and testing teams.
-> Business Process Mapping:
Analyze existing payment processes and workflows to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement within the context of the ISO payment engine upgrade.
Design future-state processes that align with ISO 20022 standards, ensuring the new payment engine can support enhanced data, messaging, and transaction formats.
-> Stakeholder Communication:
Act as a liaison between business units, technical teams, and external vendors to ensure clear communication of project goals, scope, and progress.
Conduct workshops and meetings to validate requirements, confirm test cases, and demonstrate new system features.
Testing:
-> Test Strategy & Planning:
Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies to ensure the new payment engine complies with both functional and non-functional requirements.
Work closely with the QA team to define testing methodologies, acceptance criteria, and test cases based on business and system requirements.
-> Test Execution:
Perform functional, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate the performance and compliance of the upgraded payment engine with ISO 20022 standards.
Execute end-to-end payment transaction testing, including real-time and batch processes, to ensure accuracy, reliability, and data integrity.
-> Defect Management:
Track and manage defects identified during testing, ensuring timely resolution by working closely with the development team.
Retest fixes to ensure issues have been resolved and do not impact other system functionalities.
ISO Compliance & Payments Expertise:
-> ISO 20022 Knowledge:
Ensure all business processes, workflows, and system functionalities comply with the ISO 20022 payment standard, including message types (pacs, pain, camt), data fields, and structure.
-> Payment Systems:
Provide expertise on payment schemes such as SWIFT, SEPA, ACH, and domestic payments, ensuring the upgraded payment engine can handle all relevant transaction types and formats.
Understand the impact of ISO 20022 on bank operations, from payment initiation and processing to settlement and reconciliation.
Must have
5+ years of experience in a Business Analyst or Tester role, preferably in banking or financial services.
Previous ISO experience with Chaps and SWIFT payments, any with GPP and Direct Clearing ISO experience will be a big plus as well.
Previous experience in payment engine upgrades, migrations, or similar projects is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of ISO 20022 payment messaging standards and the ability to interpret message structures (pacs, pain, camt).
Familiarity with payment processing systems, including SWIFT, SEPA, and domestic payment infrastructures.
Proficiency in business process modeling, creating use cases, and writing detailed business and technical documentation.
Experience with testing tools and methodologies, including defect tracking systems (e.g., Jira, HP ALM).
