Platform Engineer

We’re well funded by the top investors and angels in the world. Ema is based in Silicon Valley and Bangalore, India. This will be a hybrid role where we expect employees to work from office three days a week.

Who you are

We are looking for an enthusiastic Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team at Ema Unlimited. In this role, you will support the design, development, and maintenance of our platform and infrastructure as we continue to enhance our product offerings and expand our user base. Working in a fast-paced startup environment, you will gain hands-on experience in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems. This position is ideal for someone passionate about learning and growing their skills in microservice architecture, deployment strategies, and system security.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining microservices-based architectures using Docker and Kubernetes running on GCP, Azure and AWS.
• Develop and optimize cloud-based infrastructure and platform components using Golang and Python.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to improve system reliability, scalability, and performance
• Monitor system performance, assist in analyzing performance metrics, and support enhancements.
• Contribute to the development of DevOps practices and tools
• Troubleshoot and resolve platform and infrastructure related issues. Help monitor system health through real-time alerting systems.
• Assist in implementing monitoring and observability solutions
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3-8 years of experience in platform or Infrastructure Engineering or a related technical role.
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and operating systems
• Proficiency in Golang and Python programming languages
• Familiarity with containerization technologies, particularly Docker
• Basic understanding of Kubernetes and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with any cloud provider and basic understanding of cloud-based infrastructures. Familiarity with multiple cloud providers is a big plus.
• Basic understanding of user authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Willingness to learn about database performance techniques, including query optimization.
• Experience with network, operating system, or database internals is a big plus.
• Good problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills.
