Job Description

As a Principal Software Engineer at Zscaler, you will collaborate with a team to design, build, and ship production-quality code for innovative zero-trust cybersecurity solutions. Your responsibilities include developing, testing, and maintaining Windows kernel-level software using C and C++ programming languages. You will also troubleshoot and resolve problems in a complex distributed system environment, analyze and integrate third-party code, and apply best practices to ensure code quality and reliability. The role involves working within a fast-paced and collaborative environment, contributing to Zscaler's mission of making the cloud a safe place to do business.
Good To Have:
  • Experience writing C++17 and utilizing Boost C++ libraries.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts.
  • Knowledge of Linux kernel and network subsystems.
Must Have:
  • Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages.
  • Strong ability to write asynchronous and lock-less code.
  • Minimum of 10 years of software development experience.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.

We're looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our Segmentation team. Reporting to the Director of Engineering you will:

  • Collaborate with a team of engineers from diverse technical backgrounds to design, build, and ship production-quality code for innovative zero-trust cybersecurity solutions.
  • Develop, test, and maintain Windows kernel-level software using C and C++ programming languages.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve problems in a complex distributed system environment.
  • Rapidly analyze and integrate third-party code to interface with existing systems seamlessly.
  • Apply best practices, including rigorous testing, to ensure code quality and reliability throughout the software development lifecycle.

What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages with deep experience in Windows systems programming
  • Strong ability to write asynchronous and lock-less code with an understanding of multithreaded programming concepts
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional software development experience in complex environments
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve problems across multiple components, languages, and distributed systems
  • Commitment to ensuring production-ready code through comprehensive testing practices

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience writing C++17 and utilizing Boost C++ libraries in software development
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, including TCP/IP RFCs, Windows Filtering Platform (WFP) drivers, and tools like WiX for Windows Installer packaging
  • Knowledge of Linux kernel and network subsystems, including iptables, eBPF, iproute2, and functional programming concepts
