Job Description

The Product Graphics Designer supports the Product Graphics team with production and design tasks for artwork implementation. They revise hardware product artwork with general text and content updates, regulatory changes, and font updates. They also work with Designers and Project Managers for regulatory updates, ensuring brand consistency. They ensure artwork is reviewed and approved and delivered on time. They also support the team with graphics specifications and best practices documentation, participating in process improvement. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong design principles, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The candidate should be able to understand line-weights and how they appear on various surface materials, ability to read 3D CAD drawings and have knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
Must have:
  • BA degree in Graphics Design or equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a design organization
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental design principles
  • Mastery in graphic and production design
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
Good to have:
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and production phases
  • Proficiency in Mac Applications and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of database management systems

What does a Product Graphics Designer do at Hogarth?

The Product Graphics Studio Production Designer supports the Product Graphics team with production and design tasks in the implementation of artwork for sustaining products. In addition, they perform miscellaneous production tasks such as reviewing vendor part marking specifications and test devices. The ideal candidate is meticulous and detail oriented, shows ingenuity in solving problems, is resourceful, and is dedicated to achieving high quality standards. They are dependable, calm under pressure, and able to learn quickly and cope with rapid change. 

Responsibilities:

  • Supports Product Graphics Designers by revising all sustaining hardware product artwork with general text and content updates, regulatory changes, and font updates. Graphics are for implementation on products, components, and individual parts.
  • For Regulatory updates, works with Designers on design needs, intent, requirements, and interpretation, and with Project Manager to understand key implementation dates and the product localization matrix.
  • Understands the client’s design style and product ecosystem to ensure brand consistency. Works with Graphics Manager to find the best compromise between design intent and regulatory constraints.
  • Ensures all artwork has been reviewed and approved by the Product Graphics Designers and delivered on time for cross-functional team review.
  • Supports Product Graphics team with graphics specifications and best practices documentation. Participates in process improvement to make the workflow more efficient.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • BA degree in Graphics Design or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a design organization for consumer electronics/consumer goods. Project management experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental design principles. Well-honed eye for sophisticated design, quality, and consistency.
  • Mastery in graphic and production design and in the application of typography best practices.
  • Understands line-weights and how they appear on various surface materials: plastics/metals/fibers/other.
  • Ability to read 3D CAD drawings.
  • Meticulous attention to detail. 
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while tracking milestones and deliverables.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator [Expert], In-Design, Photoshop. Proficiency in Mac Applications: Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and in Microsoft Office. Database management systems a plus.
  • Trustworthy in a highly confidential environment. Supportive of company values.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and production phases a plus.

At Hogarth California, the base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $45 to $62. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
