Job Description

Ansys, now part of Synopsys, is seeking an R&D Documentation Specialist to join the team responsible for delivering Granta MI, Granta Selector, and Granta EduPack materials information management products. This role involves creating and updating various forms of documentation, collaborating with product and development teams, gaining expertise in Ansys software, and contributing to continuous improvement. The specialist will also provide UX feedback and understand customer use cases.
Must have:
  • Create help, tutorials, videos, reference documentation, API documentation, and microcopy for Ansys Granta products.
  • Update and revise previously-released content to ensure accuracy and up-to-date information.
  • Work with Product Owners, Product Managers, Software Developers, and technical experts to understand requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with software development, QA, and documentation teams to support and enhance delivery.
  • Gain expertise in Ansys software products and understand customer use cases.
  • Provide UX feedback/ideas on how to improve design issues in the software.
  • Gain expertise in Ansys tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, processes, and practices.
  • Work under some supervision.

You will be part of a team responsible for delivering Granta MI, Granta Selector, and Granta EduPack, the Ansys Granta materials information management products.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create help, tutorials, videos, reference documentation, API documentation, and microcopy for Ansys Granta products. Update and revise previously-released content to ensure it remains accurate and up-to-date.
  • Work with Product Owners, Product Managers, Software Developers, and technical experts to understand the requirements for new products, and software enhancements or changes in existing products.
  • Collaborate closely with software development, QA, and documentation teams to support and enhance the software delivery process.
  • Gain expertise in the Ansys software products you cover, and understand the customer use cases that drive their development.
  • Provide UX feedback/ideas on how to improve design issues in the software you are documenting.
  • Gain expertise in Ansys tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, processes, and practices.
  • Work under some supervision

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • B.Sc in Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communication, or with 2 years’ relevant experience. Or, relevant Master’s degree with no experience.
  • Fluency in English, along with excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to gather and analyze technical and product information from various sources, paying close attention to detail
  • Capacity to develop documentation ensuring a high level of quality, consistency, and accuracy
  • Comfort in managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, geographically diverse environment
  • This position does not qualify for immigration sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Familiarity with Ansys products
  • Familiarity with the concepts of documentation authoring, common project management software, version control, and structured documentation, as well as build tools, oXygen, DITA, XML, Git, and agile development methodologies
  • Aptitude for creating effective graphics to help users quickly understand complex concepts and processes.
  • Familiarity with Git for source code control and collaborative development.
