Job Description

Nissan is seeking a highly motivated Regulatory Affairs Engineer for its technical affairs team in Brussels. This hybrid role involves collecting regulatory information, interacting with authorities and stakeholders, and coordinating with internal Nissan sections. The engineer will proactively monitor European and international regulatory trends, evaluate their impact on vehicle homologation, and participate in external meetings related to vehicle emissions and environmental regulations.
Good To Have:
  • Prior experience in regulatory or engineering activities at an automobile manufacturing company/tier 1 supplier, type approval authority, and technical service will be an asset.
Must Have:
  • Establish and maintain close relationships with key external stakeholders, including European authorities, national governments and a wide range of stakeholders involved in policy making.
  • Proactively seek insights into European and international regulatory trends, evaluate possible future requirements and impact on vehicle homologation, and effectively communicate it within Nissan R&D to facilitate product compliance.
  • Actively participate in external meetings organized by the UN, EU, national governments, and trade associations.
  • Work in the field of vehicle emission as well as a range of environmental regulations impacting the Company’s R&D and business strategies.
  • Minimum technical bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 3 years of experience in a relevant technical field.
  • Working knowledge of EU policy making process as well as technical regulations for emissions and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills (English) and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 40% of the work time).

We are looking for a highly motivated person with relevant experience or strong interest in regulatory affairs in the automobile sector.

The regulatory affairs engineer will be part of Nissan’s technical affairs team based in Brussels (Hybrid), collecting regulatory information, interacting with authorities and stakeholders on a day-to-day basis, and coordinating with relevant sections across the Nissan organisation.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain close relationships with key external stakeholders, including European authorities, national governments and a wide range of stakeholders involved in policy making.
  • Proactively seek insights into European and international regulatory trends, evaluate possible future requirements and impact on vehicle homologation, and effectively communicate it within Nissan R&D to facilitate product compliance.
  • Actively participate in external meetings organized by the UN, EU, national governments, and trade associations.
  • The Regulatory Affairs Engineer will be assigned to work in the field of vehicle emission as well as a range of environmental regulations impacting the Company’s R&D and business strategies.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum technical bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 3 years of experience in a relevant technical field. Prior experience in regulatory or engineering activities at an automobile manufacturing company/tier 1 supplier, type approval authority, and technical service will be an asset.
  • Ability to combine conceptual thinking and professional technique with a pragmatic approach.
  • Strong interest in automobile technologies.
  • Working knowledge of EU policy making process as well as technical regulations for emissions and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills (English) and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willing to travel (up to 40% of the work time) is a necessity.
