GoFundMe is seeking a skilled Risk Analyst to join their global operations team, open to remote candidates. The Risk, Compliance, and Platform Integrity team protects donors, fundraisers, and the company from fraud and financial crimes. As a Detector or Investigator, you will analyze risk signals, evaluate user behavior, verify identities, and ensure compliance with financial regulations. Responsibilities include reviewing fundraisers, triaging leads, assessing KYC/KYB documentation, identifying trends, and mitigating financial or reputational risk. The role requires 1-3 years of experience in fraud, risk, or payments, strong analytical and communication skills, and a proactive approach to evolving risks.

The GoFundMe team is searching for a skilled and passionate risk analyst to join our global operations team, ideally based in Chicago or San Diego, but open to remote as well.  In this dynamic role, you will be required to operate at an impeccable level of consistency while mastering new techniques and technologies to ensure GoFundMe remains a safe place to give and receive donations online.

The Risk, Compliance, and Platform Integrity team is at the front line of GoFundMe’s efforts to protect donors, fundraiser organizers, beneficiaries, and our company from fraud,  financial crimes, and abuse. As a member of the Risk team (Detector or Investigator), you’ll help ensure our community remains a safe and trusted place to give and receive support by detecting risk signals, evaluating behaviors, verifying customer identities, and upholding compliance with financial regulations. Your analysis will inform smarter fraud prevention strategies and drive real-world impact.

The Job

Based on skillset, you’ll be assigned to one of two core tracks: Detector or Investigator.

Detector Responsibilities

  • Conduct reviews of new fundraisers to analyze risk signals.
  • Analyze behavior deviations and account risk signals post-onboarding.
  • Triage leads for further review and escalation.
  • Evaluate KYC/KYB documentation and escalate sanctions/watchlist hits.
  • Identify trends and gaps in scoring models, and recommend threshold and rule improvements.
  • Review and analyze community complaints regarding potential fraudulent activity
  • Surface emerging risks through manual case work and site-wide trend analysis.
  • Monitor fundraisers throughout their lifecycle to mitigate financial or reputational risk.

Investigator Responsibilities

  • Conduct deeper due diligence on high-risk accounts.
  • Manage escalations from internal teams.
  • Respond to and mitigate payment disputes and negative balances.
  • Guide customers through vetting, account reviews, and resolution of blocked funds.
  • Ensure compliance with the GoFundMe Giving Guarantee.
  • Identify trends and gaps in scoring models, and recommend threshold and rule improvements.
  • Surface emerging risks through manual case work and site-wide trend analysis.

You 

  • 1–3 years of experience in a fraud, risk, trust & safety, or payments environment.
  • Familiarity with customer due diligence, AML/CTF regulations, KYC/KYB standards, and financial crime typologies.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills—especially in a remote or hybrid team setting.
  • High level of empathy, integrity, and professionalism when interacting with customers and colleagues.
    A proactive, curious, and solution-focused approach to evolving risks and ambiguity.
  • Team-player, able to disseminate information to internal and external stakeholders.

The total annual salary for this full-time position is $54,500 - $81,500 + equity + benefits.  As this is a remote position, the salary range was determined by role, level, and possible location across the US. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
