Job Description

The Roaming Testing Engineer I performs IREG testing based on GSM standards, focusing on network setup and testing for new roaming agreements. This role involves supporting IREG testing procedures, providing switching & signaling support, performing network translations, scheduling and executing IREG tests, and troubleshooting SS7 messages, switching, SGSN/GGSN, and SMSC issues related to roaming services. The engineer also manages test plans and schedules to ensure timely completion and adherence to process controls.
Must Have:
  • Perform IREG testing based on GSM standards.
  • Support IREG testing procedures and business processes.
  • Provide switching & signaling support for Roaming Partner setup.
  • Perform switch/network translations for roaming services.
  • Schedule and perform all IREG testing.
  • Troubleshoot and evaluate SS7 messages.
  • Troubleshoot switching, SGSN/GGSN, and SMSC for roaming.
  • Manage test plan and schedule.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in STEM, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years IREG testing environment experience.
  • 2+ years technical customer support, problem management, roaming implementation experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and error analysis skills.
  • Strong understanding of GSM standards and testing methods.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Excellent analytical, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Detail orientation.

Who We're Looking For

General Summary:

The Roaming Testing Engineer I is responsible for performing IREG testing (CARRIER_SHORT) based on GSM testing standards. Primarily focusing on the network set-up and testing of the roaming partners to implement new roaming agreements; using the established IREG testing methodology by participating in, and supporting all required activities to ensure all process controls are adhered to and completed in a timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 100% Support
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of IREG testing procedures and adhere to all business processes and GSM standards
  • Provide switching & signaling support for Roaming Partner set up
  • Perform switch/network translations for the establishment of roaming services
  • Schedule and perform all IREG testing for any new roaming partners required by CARRIER_SHORT
  • Troubleshoot and evaluate SS7 messages when roaming services are failing
  • Troubleshoot switching, SGSN/GGSN, and SMSC as it relates to roaming
  • Manage test plan and schedule

Job Requirements:

  • General
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a STEM field, or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years experience working in a IREG testing environment preferred
  • 2+ years experience in areas of technical customer support, problem management and roaming implementation
  • Formal software testing methodologies

  • Strong troubleshooting and error analysis skills
  • Strong understanding of GSM standards and testing methods
