As a Senior Backend Engineer at Visual Concepts, you will be responsible for developing server-side code for the NBA 2K game. This role requires expertise in distributed systems, compute scale, efficient databases, and high-performance server-side applications. You will have a meaningful impact on the game's ability to deliver world-leading experiences to players. The job involves writing server backend code, proficiency in C++ and Python, and understanding of distributed and scalable systems. The role also involves optimizing database connections and queries, and working with online gaming architecture.

Must have:

Proven experience writing server backend code
Proficient in C++ and understanding of object-oriented programming
Proficient in Python, PHP, Perl, or Ruby, with an emphasis on Python
Understanding of distributed and scalable systems
Experience with multithreaded programming
BSCS or equivalent experience.

Good to have:

Experience writing code for security and virtual currency transactions a plus
Experience optimizing database connections and queries a plus
Experience with online gaming architecture a plus
Knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or other
Videogame console development experience is quite helpful
Love for video games (not just ours!)

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $180,000 - $250,000 per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
