The Senior Customer Solutions Consultant (CSE, Professional Services) role requires creativity, curiosity, and passion, along with deep technical versatility and experience. The primary focus is on delivering differentiated and exceptional customer experiences through successful post-sales deployments of Rocket products. Responsibilities include solving real-world problems for customers and partners, delivering value with speed, precision, quality, and innovation, and demonstrating commitment to customers, partners, and colleagues. Key duties involve providing services to customers (75%) by working on complex project scopes with minimal direction, contributing to design and deployment of Rocket products, creating proof of concepts, and conducting technical presentations. Technical leadership (25%) includes accountability for technical solution implementation, leading teams, communicating project status and risks, providing technical advice, and determining resource requirements.
Must have:

Good to have:
  • IBM Enterprise COBOL or PLI programming experience
  • System level experience of IBM CICS, IMS and JCL
  • Relational databases (DB2/UDB, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
  • Windows operating system experience
  • Linux/UNIX operating system experience
  • Knowledge of major Cloud Provider infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Mainframe application modernization project experience
  • Experience with COBOL modernization and code porting
  • Familiarity with agile engineering practices (CI/CD, DevOps)
  • Experience with data modernization for mainframe (IMS/DB, IDMS, VSAM)
  • Experience implementing DevOps/Agile tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
  • Proficiency in another EU language

Job Description Summary:

The Senior Customer Solutions Consultant (CSE, Professional Services) brings creativity, curiosity and passion to the role. They demonstrate deep technical versatility, and the experience to deliver differentiated exceptional customer experiences to Rocket’s Product customers by delivering services that allow for successful post-sales deployments of Rocket products. They solve real problems for, and deliver value to, our customers and partners – every day. They deliver successful outcomes for our customers and partners with speed, precision, quality and innovation. They demonstrate that we take our commitments seriously- to our customers, to our partners and to each other.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide services to customers (75%)
    • Works on complex project scope with minimal direction from with Customer/SI nominated representatives to accomplish assigned tasks.
    • Contributes to design for specific deliverables and assists in the deployment Rocket products
    • Contribute to implement new solutions under the direction of Delivery Architects
    • Create proof of concept / proof of value technology analysis and pilots.
    • Conduct external and internal technical presentations/trainings to peer groups.
    • Uses and contributes to technical forums within the Rocket AMC environment and local professional communities and technical user groups.
    • Applies own subject matter knowledge to solve a variety of common technical issues.
    • Exercises independent judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate action
    • Participates as part of a team and maintains good relationships with team members and customers.
  • Technical Leadership (25%)
    • Ultimately accountable for technical solution implementation for project.
    • Leads a team and communicates project status and risks to all project stakeholders on behalf of the team.
    • Use technical experience to give customer sound technical advice.
    • Responsible for knowing the Architecture, versions, and requirements.
    • Responsible for determining appropriate technical resource requirements for project completion. Works with PM to request resources.

What it takes to excel:

  • Expected Qualification and Soft Skills
    • 5-7 years of relevant technical experience
    • Excellent communication / customer service skills / confident telephone manner
    • Proactive and able to work under pressure
    • Experience in complex IT project implementations, customizations and or maintenance
    • Must have an analytical mind set to analyse test result and facilitate defect resolution
    • Organized and methodical, dealing with numerous tasks.
    • Fluent in written and verbal English.
  • Requested Technical skills (technical skills to include two or more of the following):
    • IBM Enterprise COBOL or PLI programming experience
    • System level experience of IBM CICS;  IMS and JCL
    • Relational databases, such as IBM DB2/UDB, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server; PostgreSQL
    • Windows operating system
    • Linux/UNIX operating system
    • Knowledge of major Cloud Provider infrastructure and technologies, such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Cloud Foundry, Docker / Kubernetes.
  • Desired Project Experience
    • A practical experience of mainframe application modernization project is highly desirable. For example:  
    • Experience with tools and methodologies used to migrate mainframe workloads via hardware/middleware emulation, automated code conversion, and re-platforming.
    • Experience with COBOL modernization and porting application code across platforms.
    • Familiarity with agile engineering practices like Test Automation, Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), DevOps, and Test Data Management, etc.
    • Experience developing, deploying, and tuning data modernization solution for mainframe such as IMS/DB, IDMS, ADABAS and VSAM data migration
    • Experience with implementing and operating DevOps and Agile tools/platforms across some part of the development lifecycle
    • Experience configuring automation pipelines in GitHub, Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins or similar tools.

  • Other Preferred Skills
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
    • Rocket COBOL based products – Enterprise Developer, Visual COBOL, Enterprise Server, Server Express, Net Express
    • Any additional mainframe language or environment, such as REXX; Assembler; Natural; Adabas; …
    • Relevant Business and IT Architecture Certifications such as, AWS Solution Architect Professional, Microsoft AZURE Solution Architect, Google Cloud Certification; Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) etc.
    • Proficient in another EU language.
