Job Description

The Senior Director of Engineering, Digital & eCommerce Platform, reports to the VP, Engineering for .com and Commerce, within Autodesk’s GTM Technology organization. This role is critical for re-creating Autodesk.com and delivering full customer lifecycle digital experiences for global direct-to-consumer and business-to-business channels. The position aims to catalyze growth from $5b to $10b+ by improving funnel conversion, driving experimentation, and increasing revenue through productivity and insights. The role requires strong engineering leadership, eCommerce domain expertise, and cross-organizational collaboration to lead strategic product investments and achieve quantifiable business outcomes.
Must have:

Position Overview

The Senior Director of Engineering, Digital & eCommerce Platform, is a critical role reporting to the VP, Engineering for .com and Commerce, Autodesk’s Go To Market (GTM) Technology organization.

We’re looking for a Senior Director of Engineering, Digital & eCommerce Platform to drive the re-creation of Autodesk.com and deliver full customer lifecycle digital experiences that support both our global direct-to-consumer and business-to-business channels.

You will be empowered to catalyze our growth to from $5b to $10b+ through improved funnel conversion, hypothesis-driven experimentation, productivity, automation, insights, and experiences to increase the revenue. You will have Engineering leadership experience, eCommerce domain expertise, and demonstrated influence collaborating across organizational boundaries to lead strategic product investments and land quantifiable business outcomes. You will promote an inspirational north star vision, based on latest market trends and user research and discovery, to improve our buying experience and help increase revenue.

Preferred candidates will be hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a global engineering team and provide thought leadership on all systems and platforms used by GTM teams
  • Build, lead, and mentor a highly performing engineering team and identify skill gaps and development needs of individuals
  • Establish and enforce engineering best practices, standards, and processes to ensure quality code and high availability of systems
  • Partner with your product management peer to prioritize a rolling 12-month roadmaps
  • Collaborate with product management and experience design to engage with users to understand their requirements, address any concerns or issues, and build lasting partnerships. Be a trusted advisor providing technical expertise and guidance

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in Engineering, including roadmap development from conception to launch, interfacing with teams building for data science, leading the creation of scalable experimentation platforms, and deploying advanced data strategies
  • 5+ years of experience scaling and retaining high functioning engineering teams
  • Deep domain expertise in e-commerce, funnel conversion, experimentation, real-time analytics, scaling customer-facing web apps, and deploying advanced engineering strategies in corporate settings
  • Proven track record in landing quantifiable business impact in partnership with cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, architecture, Data Science, Product Management & Experience Design, and in building influential relationships and driving data-centric decision-making across our teams
  • Experience with technical concepts, modern engineering practices, and influencing technical leaders/senior engineers, including the ability to dive deep to unblock teams and increase agility
  • Experience building highly performant, scalable systems and proficiency in a range of cloud technologies (such as AWS, SQL, Kafka, and Real time streaming)
  • Expertise in open-source technologies, including React, React Native, and Node.js
  • Experience building influential relationships and driving data-driven decision-making across internal teams
  • Deep expertise with Agile methodologies and driving incremental value
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in computer science, related field, or equivalent practical experience

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $210,800 and $341,000. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
