IT Operations Engineer

The IT Operations Engineer will primarily focus on supporting the Test and Development environments for Software Engineering and Development Teams. The IT Operations Engineer will provide both day-to-day operational support and engage in project level engineering work in support of the Software Engineering and Development Teams. The IT Operations Engineer will be both the primary point of contact and the primary escalation point for work with and support of the Software Engineering and Development Teams. The IT Operations Engineer will work with the Software Engineering and Development Teams to modernize and standardize the Engineering infrastructure. The IT Operations Engineer will also be support for Corporate System Engineering functions when local Bangalore resources are required and as part of a “Follow The Sun” support model.

Responsibilities:

• Managing systems across all infrastructure technologies including support capabilities for Windows, Linux, Xen Orchestra, VMWare, Hyper-V server and other virtualization technologies;
• Perform IT functions such as design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging and implementation of data center solutions supporting company business processes and operations;
• Active Directory management including User/Group management, Trusts, Replication, and Monitoring overall AD health;
• Design server, build, and application installation and configuration standards, processes, and procedures for Windows and Linux;
• Design and implement hardware infrastructure and storage solutions including capacity planning;
• DNS and DHCP management for domains that require their own management;
• PKI Certificate management – especially creating and submitting CSR’s for renewal;
• Install RDBMS Platforms;
• Day to day support of systems and requests;
• Support of development tools including – Visual Studio, MSDN, and Azure;
• Define standards and ensure standardization is followed;
• Plan, design and implement infrastructure solutions between multiple platforms and protocols;
• Recommends systems improvements to meet evolving requirements;
• Proactively analyzes vulnerabilities in supported systems and provides a strategy for mitigation;
• Effectively uses existing troubleshooting tools to quickly resolve issues;
• Secures systems by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access;
• Patching hardware, software, and operating systems across all systems including AIX and UX;
• Design and implementation of lab and testing environments including integrations into Flexera One;
• Physical server configuration and support for assets;
• Basic Networking Skills are a plus;

Competencies:

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field with 5+ years experience;
• Excellent technical skills across a variety of technologies, including servers, operating systems, storage, networks, databases, web services, etc.;
• 4+ years of experience in Systems Administration, with a proven track record of increasing responsibilities;
• Proven track record of taking an unstructured environment to a standardized environment.
• Experience with support of a global environment;
• Solid problem solving and analytical skills;
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);
• Self-starter who continually develops and broadens their skill set;
• Good understanding of industry and technology trends with experience introducing new technology seamlessly into an existing environment with minimum disruption;
• Communicate highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel;
• Ability to coordinate with remote technical resources to fully utilize the skill set across the entire team;
• Work effectively without supervision;
• Organization and documentation skills;
• Superior customer service skills;
• Strong knowledge of Linux, and Windows operating systems;
• Strong knowledge of various hypervisor technologies;
• Ability to lift 50 lbs;
• Ability to install and maintain equipment onsite at data center locations when needed;
