As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering, you will lead the developer infrastructure team that powers LOL and TFT. You will manage a team of managers and engineers, oversee performance, and identify growth opportunities. You will set the technical direction, partner with leaders, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and reliable solutions. You will also stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies. The responsibilities include team management, technical direction, performance improvement, and collaboration across departments.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of experience in developing developer tools.
  • 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams as a manager.
  • Experience overseeing teams developing CI/CD, build tooling.
  • Expertise with Java, C++, or similar languages.
  • Expertise with CS fundamentals, system design, and algorithms.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering best practices.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple teams.
  • Experience in project management and prioritization.
Good to have:
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Familiar with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, MS Azure.
  • Familiar with CI/CD tools and framework.
  • Experience leading full-stack teams.
  • Experience leading remote teams.

Job Details

As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering - Chemtech Platform, you will lead the developer infrastructure team that powers LOL and TFT. This team encompasses the dev environments, build and deploy tools, quality framework and processes that empower both game and service devs across the studio. You will set the technical direction for the overall developer workflow for the studio and be accountable for the outcome of your engineering team. You will partner with production leaders to enable the development of League Studio’s next generation of games and experiences. You will report to the Initiative Engineering Director. This role will be based in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of highly skilled managers and engineers, overseeing performance management, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring positive results.
  • Manage and socialize an engineering vision for the team, including working with other leaders to create a long-term organization and staffing plan that supports technical product goals.
  • Contribute to all parts of the employee life-cycle, including budgets, recruiting, hiring, managing, and mentoring engineers, as well as managing contingent staff.
  • Partner with your Technical Leads to provide technical direction throughout the product life cycle while continuously improving the software engineering quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and technical production, to deliver high-quality, scalable, and reliable solutions.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration within engineering teams and across other departments.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, guiding the team in adopting best practices and ensuring the technical excellence of our products.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in developing developer tools.
  • 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams as a manager of managers
  • Extensive experience overseeing teams who are developing CI/CD, build and release tooling 
  • Expertise with Java, C++, or similar language(s) and other CS fundamentals.
  • Expertise with CS fundamentals including system design, data structures, and algorithms.
  • In-depth knowledge of standard engineering best practices, techniques, and methodologies to drive quality outcomes.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple teams, departments, and disciplines to create solutions.
  • Experience in project management, prioritization frameworks, and guiding investment strategies in people and systems.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiar with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, MS Azure.
  • Familiar with CI/CD tools and framework.
  • Experience leading full-stack teams.
