The Senior R&D Documentation Specialist will be responsible for writing, editing, and creating various Ansys documentation deliverables. This role involves reviewing all work for organization, content, technical accuracy, and style. The specialist will plan, schedule, research, write, and edit documentation, participating in development teams to stay informed about product development. They will determine audience needs to create new documentation, tutorials, API documentation, AI-based documentation, algorithmic documentation, and videos. The position requires updating and revising existing documentation, gaining a high level of knowledge about Ansys products and documentation tools, and working closely with development teams to implement technological requirements. Minimal supervision is expected, and mentoring other documentation specialists may be involved. Collaboration with other documentation specialists for various Ansys tools is also a key duty.
Must have:
  • Write, edit, and create Ansys documentation deliverables

  • Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in English with excellent communication skills
  • Gather and analyze technical product information
  • 5 years experience with BS or 3 years with MS
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with Ansys products, especially optiSLang
  • Engineering experience in numerical simulation
  • Experience with authoring tools like oXygen, DITA, XML
  • Knowledge of version control (Git)
  • Experience with build tools and Camtasia
  • Understanding of user-centered design and agile methodologies
  • Knowledge of developer APIs (Python, REST)
  • Experience with optimization algorithms (DOE, Metamodelling, Sensitivity, Robustness, Reliability, Optimization, RDO, RBDO)
  • Experience with process integration and democratization

Summary / Role Purpose

The Senior R&D Documentation Specialist (m/f/d) writes, edits, and creates a variety of Ansys documentation deliverables. They review all work for organization, content, technical accuracy, and style. This role requires effective planning, scheduling, research, writing, and editing skills.  The Senior Documentation Specialist participates as a member of development teams, keeping informed of product development activities to determine the need for new documentation as well as revisions, corrections, and changes in previously released materials. 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Determines audience needs to create, plan new and rethink existing user documentation, tutorials, API documentation, AI-based documentation, algorithmic documentation, and videos for Ansys products​ 
  • Updates and revises previously released documentation
  • Attains a high level of knowledge about both Ansys products and Ansys documentation tools, processes, and procedures 
  • Works closely with development teams to implement technological requirements for Ansys documentation
  • Requires minimal supervision
  • May mentor other documentation specialists
  • Collaborate and Coordinate with other documentation specialists of various Ansys tools.  

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Technical Writing, Technical Communication, Computer Science, English/Linguistics, Journalism, or Engineering with 5 years’ experience or MS with 3 years’ experience
  • Fluency in English, along with excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Skilled at gathering and analyzing technical and product information from various sources, paying close attention to detail 
  • Proven experience developing user-centric documentation ensuring a high level of quality, consistency, and accuracy
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, geographically diverse environment
  • This position does not qualify for immigration sponsorship

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Familiarity with Ansys products, in particular optiSLang, but also proven engineering experience in numerical simulation using Ansys and non-Ansys tools. 
  • Experienced with the concepts of documentation authoring, common project management software, version control, and structured documentation, as well as build tools, oXygen, DITA, XML, Git, Camtasia, user-centered design processes, and agile development methodologies 
  • Extensive knowledge on learn pathes of customers, on different personas consuming documentation material, how optiSLang is used at new, low-level and advanced customers, general experience with developer APIs  such as Python or REST, extensive practical knowledge  of Optimization algorithms (DOE, Metamodelling, Sensitivity, Robustness, Reliability, Optimization, RDO, RBDO) and process integration and democratization.
  • Proven experience determining the best method in which to present information and then creating the appropriate output(s), such as topic-based help, videos, tutorials, graphics, and interactive learning systems
