Job Description

The Senior R&D Engineer will be part of a team of ML Engineers, working on partnerships projects. The position involves close collaboration with the Ansys ecosystem, encompassing the design and training of cutting-edge models and the development of robust production code. Responsibilities include creating neural network architectures, participating in planning and research, performing complex development activities, employing best practices, and researching solutions for QA or product support.
Must have:
  • Experience with Python, Deep Learning libraries and MLOps.
  • Proven track record of crafting robust and efficient code.
  • Proven track record of developing Deep Learning models.
Good to have:
  • Apply AI and Deep Learning to CAE, namely geometry handling.
  • Experience delivering high-quality products in a large environment.
  • Understanding of customer requirements and tools in this domain.

The Senior R&D Engineer will be part of a team of ML Engineers, working on partnerships projects. The position will be working closely with the Ansys ecosystem and the scopes includes everything from designing and training cutting-edge models to developing robust production code.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates architectures for neural networks tailored to specific tasks, such as image recognition, natural language processing, or speech recognition
  • Participates in planning, architecture, and research
  • Performs complex development activities that may require extensive analysis in areas including user experience, software design and solver research 
  • Employs best practices and helps to maintain them through technical reviews and mentoring 
  • Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.  
  • Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions 
  • Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. May work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions 
  • Works independently with minimal supervision and may take on some planning and mentoring responsibilities 
  • May be responsible for managing interns or co-ops but typically does not have direct reports

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years’ experience, MS with 3 years’ experience, or PhD with 1 year experience  
  • Significant experience with Python, Deep Learning libraries and MLOps tooling
  • Proven track record of crafting robust and efficient code
  • Proven track record of developing Deep Learning models for commercial software

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Technical knowledge and commercial experience applying AI and Deep Learning techniques to CAE, namely geometry handling, numerical simulation and methods
  • Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial software development environment 
  • Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a geographically distributed team
