Join Telstra’s Security & Operations team as a Senior Security Engineer - Identity & Directories, and help safeguard the identity infrastructure that underpins the digital backbone of Australia’s largest telco. Sitting within our Information and Cybersecurity function, this role focuses on hardening and securing Telstra’s enterprise Microsoft Active Directory (AD) environment, a core component of our identity and access management (IAM) ecosystem. You’ll work end-to-end across the design, deployment, and ongoing support of Active Directory integrations and security uplift activities. From lifecycle management to recovery tools, you'll be hands-on in delivering resilient identity infrastructure and responding to internal and external audit requirements. This is a high-impact, technical individual contributor role, ideal for someone who’s experienced with enterprise identity environments and passionate about securing core digital assets.
Must have:
  • Lead and support the secure design and implementation of AD integrations and IAM services
  • Collaborate across cyber, IT, and DevOps teams to embed secure identity practices
  • Drive hardening, remediation, and response activities for AD and directory-related threats
  • Contribute to security architecture, frameworks, and standards across identity systems
  • Provide expert input into audits, compliance reviews, and advanced threat response
  • Implement and maintain observability and recovery solutions for identity infrastructure
  • Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services (design, deployment, and security hardening)
  • Hands-on scripting and troubleshooting skills, PowerShell proficiency required
  • Solid understanding of authentication protocols (LDAP/S, Kerberos, NTLM) and networking concepts (DNS, load balancing)
  • Experience working with or supporting IAM tools and processes
  • Familiarity with audit remediation, threat detection tools, or recovery platforms
Good to have:
  • Experience with Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) – lifecycle, role-based access, workflows
  • Exposure to Semperis ADFR/DSP, CrowdStrike Identity, or similar identity security platforms
  • Knowledge of identity observability and recovery strategies in enterprise settings

You’re an experienced infrastructure security engineer or identity specialist who thrives in enterprise environments. You have strong Active Directory knowledge and can troubleshoot, script, and collaborate across teams to protect critical services.
