Hike is building the Hike Gaming Nation and is seeking a Sr. SDE Backend. The role involves developing, innovating, and integrating new technologies and tools, scoping tasks and systems for future improvements, and mentoring other engineers. Responsibilities include defining, architecting, and developing core gaming server components, optimizing code and memory usage for high-performance scalable systems, and collaborating with product managers and other engineers. The ideal candidate will have strong backend gaming technologies and networking protocols experience, proficiency in Java and/or C#, understanding of TCP/IP & UDP protocols, distributed systems, REST APIs with JSON & XML, relational databases, and the ability to scale systems for hundreds of thousands of concurrent connections. Strong object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and software design skills are essential, along with experience in Git and JIRA.
Must have:
- Strong backend gaming technologies and networking protocols experience
- Strong coding skills in Java and/or C#
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP & UDP protocols
- Basic understanding of distributed systems
- Proficiency in designing REST APIs with JSON & XML
- Proficiency in designing relational databases
- Scale systems for hundreds of thousands of concurrent connections
- Strong Object Oriented design and architecture skills
- Solid foundation in computer science, data structures, algorithms, and software design
- Proven ability to architect and design large systems
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with source control (GIT)
- Experience with bug tracking (JIRA)
