Job Details

At REGENT, we’re on a mission to revolutionize regional transportation between coastal cities, by developing the seaglider, a first of its kind  wing-in-ground-effect craft that operates a few meters off the water's surface and combines the speed of an airplane with the low operating costs of a boat. With existing battery technology, the Seaglider will travel routes up to 180 miles and up to 500 miles with next-gen batteries.

Backed by the same investors who support SpaceX, Anduril, and Boom Supersonic, our team is a group of passionate, forward-thinking individuals working together across fields like aviation, aerospace, and maritime engineering to turn zero-emission, high-speed travel into reality. It’s an exciting time to be part of this game-changing journey!

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Platform, Operations, & DevOps) to lead the design and development of software test, integration, and comprehensive data infrastructure platforms, critical to powering our seagliders. As part of our team, you’ll work on everything from data pipelines to automation solutions, and will directly contribute to the seamless integration of hardware and software for robust data collection, testing, and analysis.

This is no ordinary software job - this is your opportunity to be a part of a groundbreaking team that will transform coastal travel. If you're excited about shaping the future of transportation, solving complex challenges, and working in a dynamic, high-impact environment, we’d love to hear from you!

NOTE: To be considered, candidates MUST have experience working on software hardware integration and test.

What You'll Do:

As a Sr. Software Engineer (Platform, Operations, & DevOps) at REGENT, you’ll be at the heart of building the digital infrastructure that will enable the successful deployment of our seagliders. You’ll take ownership of the end-to-end data pipeline for test data, managing both on-premises and cloud-based development operations to support our engineering teams. This includes overseeing everything from data ingestion and storage to live streaming and access. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate cutting-edge hardware and software, ensuring we capture and analyze critical data for vehicle software testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform & Infrastructure Development: Lead the planning, design, and development of software test automation & integration and data pipeline platforms/services. Manage development operations and infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments to support engineering needs.
  • Data Pipeline Ownership: Oversee the entire lifecycle of test data pipelines - from ingestion and storage to live streaming and access. Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and execute integration strategies for hardware and software used in data collection and analysis.
  • Testing & Automation: Develop automation solutions for unit, integration, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, ensuring efficient management of vehicle software testing and documentation. Assist in developing and documenting vehicle software test integration and overall systems architecture.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with cross-functional teams to align on data requirements, test strategies, and system integration, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Ability to work full-time, on-site at our North Kingstown, Rhode Island facility
  • Demonstrated professional, full-time experience managing and optimizing databases, physical networks, and data storage solutions (at least 3 years post-graduate).
  • Proven expertise in establishing and maintaining secure computer networks and hardware systems.
  • Demonstrated success in applying DevOps practices to support dynamic software teams and products.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, and Bash with a track record of developing and maintaining complex software systems.
  • Proven experience with configuration management (e.g., Git), network performance monitoring (e.g., Wireshark), and data capture/analysis tools (e.g., LabView, MATLAB).

Nice-to-Haves

  • Demonstrated experience working on test campaigns for vehicles, drones, boats, or aircraft.
  • Familiarity with multi-disciplinary engineering and advanced network protocols (e.g., DDS, bridging, tunneling, multicast).
  • Experience with containerization, orchestration tools, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Background in data, audio, and video streaming

Who We're Looking For

  • Collaborative Team Player: You believe that great things happen when teams work together. You communicate effectively and collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and other cross-functional teams to align on goals and move projects forward. You bring people together, ensuring that everyone is on the same page and moving towards a shared vision.
  • Creative Problem Solver: You thrive on tackling complex challenges and finding innovative solutions.
