Job Description

Google Cloud seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer specializing in Cloud Specialized Generative AI. This role requires 8+ years of software development experience, expertise in machine learning algorithms (TensorFlow), AI, deep learning, or NLP, and 5+ years in software design, architecture, testing, and launch. Responsibilities include assessing Generative AI's technological fit for Cloud customers, prototyping solutions, designing new systems and algorithms (using pre-trained models or training new ones), aligning multiple teams, and ensuring model output quality. The ideal candidate will have experience with Generative AI solutions, model specialization techniques (SFT, RLHF), and technical leadership. A Master's or PhD in a related field is preferred.

8+ years software development experience
Expertise in machine learning algorithms
5+ years in software design, architecture, testing
Experience with Generative AI solutions
Model specialization techniques (SFT, RLHF)
Technical leadership experience

Good to have:

Master's or PhD in Computer Science
Experience in quality evaluation and improvement of model outputs

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
7 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g., TensorFlow), artificial intelligence, deep learning or natural language processing.
5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree or PhD in computer science or other technical related field.
Experience developing Generative AI based solutions and applying model specialization techniques (SFT, RLHF).
Experience in Technical leadership.
Knowledge of machine learning and its applications.
Experience in the development process focused on quality evaluation and improvements of model outputs.

Responsibilities

Assess technological fit of Generative AI innovations to market needs of Cloud customers across a wide range of industries.
Prototype and iterate on the solution working with customers, product management, and business development.
Design new systems and algorithms utilizing existing pre-trained models and training new models by defining training/evaluation sets and objectives.
Build alignment among multiple teams to build a complex solution.
Own quality evaluation of model outputs and plan and execute strategy of model quality improvements.
