Must have:
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Planning
  • 8 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of traffic analysis software (Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, Sidra)
  • Knowledge of reporting and presentation software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Good to have:
  • Relevant experience in transportation or traffic engineering

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Transportation Engineer to be based in Atlanta, Georgia.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in data collection, traffic model development, capacity and operational analysis.
  • Assist in performing planning level macro to micro traffic simulation models to compare present, and future traffic conditions and needs.
  • Have some knowledge/understanding of various traffic analysis software such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, Sidra.
  • Have knowledge of various analysis, reporting, and presentation software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Assist in performing traffic analysis for small- and large-scale transportation projects.
  • Assist in creating visual presentations on transportation data.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing technical documents, alternative analysis reports, and other project-specific deliverables.
  • Collaborate and participate in internal and external team meetings.
  • Periodic travel required within Georgia and neighboring states.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Planning + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant experience in transportation or traffic engineering is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, self-starter with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, commitment to quality, and attention to detail Experience in Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, Sidra, and/or VISSIM
  • Experience in ArcGIS, Synchro and/or other traffic modeling software, MicroStation and/or other CAD software, intersection control evaluation (ICE) analysis, crash data analysis, alternatives analysis, multi-criteria decision analysis, benefit-cost analysis, and other related planning and engineering tools
