Job Description

As a Software Engineer II, Infrastructure at Google Cloud, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions. You'll work on projects critical to Google's needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects. Responsibilities include writing product/system development code, participating in design reviews, reviewing code from peers, contributing to documentation, triaging and resolving product/system issues. The role requires strong programming skills (Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript), experience with data structures and algorithms, and a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience). Experience with large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or cloud technologies is preferred. You'll manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, and collaborate with stakeholders across the full-stack.
Good To Have:
  • Master's or PhD in CS
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure/distributed systems
  • Experience with cloud technologies (compute, storage)
  • Experience developing accessible technologies
Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 1 year software development experience (Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript)
  • 1 year experience with data structures/algorithms
  • Code development, review, and debugging
  • Design review participation

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
