The Speech team's mission is to empower content interaction and creation using speech & audio related technologies. The team focuses on cutting-edge R&D in areas like speech & audio, music processing, natural language understanding and multimodal deep learning. Responsibilities

We are seeking inventive and passionate talents to play a pivotal role in our ambitious generative AI projects, with a specific focus on enhancing user experience of all ByteDance-related products through innovative audio and music generation technologies. This position is not just about technical expertise; it's about crafting memorable, engaging experiences that resonate with billions of users worldwide. The ideal candidate will be at the forefront of AI/ML innovation, blending a deep understanding of deep learning technology with comprehensive engineering efforts of model inference. The major responsibilities include:

• Responsible for the design and development of the architecture of large-scale AI systems, solving technical difficulties such as high concurrency, high reliability, and high scalability of the system.
• Optimize speech & audio machine learning models for lower latency, targeting backend server deployment.
• Develop core libraries in C/C++.
• Work with researchers to land advanced technologies to ByteDance products.
• Build automation frameworks and tools to ensure high engineering quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of professional coding experience in C/C++ and solid software engineering background.
• Proficient in data structure and algorithm design, and familiar with system performance tuning and Linux development environment;
• Experience with standard deep learning frameworks, e.g. Pytorch and Tensorflow.
• Understanding of basic deep learning algorithms.
• Experience in one or more topics in performance optimization, such as quantization, SSE/AVX/NEON, Assembly and GPU optimization, is preferred.
• Experience in one or more topics in speech-related technologies, such as audio features, audio encoder and decoder, is preferred;
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, multi-functional environment.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)：

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $112200 - $205000 annually.​

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others.
