Job Description

YouGov is seeking a Software Engineer, Python for a remote role. This position involves collaborating with product and design teams to develop high-value features, evolve architecture, and ensure service availability, scalability, and efficiency. Responsibilities include working on impactful projects, producing maintainable code, defining testing strategies, owning code through to production, and performing code reviews. The role requires 2-3 years of experience with Python, modern testing, Git, CI/CD, microservices, MongoDB/PostgreSQL, and Docker.
Must have:
  • Work on impactful projects with high volumes of production traffic
  • Produce simple, maintainable code while always looking to improve it
  • Define testing strategies and write automated tests
  • Own your code all the way to production with a self-service continuous delivery pipeline and production infrastructure
  • Run what you build using containers orchestration and monitoring technologies
  • Perform code-reviews promptly, regularly and constructively
  • Understanding of modern testing principles
  • 2-3 years of commercial experience working with the majority of our tech-stack
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with a highly distributed microservices architecture
  • Good knowledge of Python and some of the main web frameworks (Flask, FastAPI, Django, CherryPy)
  • Experience with MongoDB and/or PostgreSQL
  • Good knowledge of Docker
Good to have:
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to end user
  • Experience participating in mitigating technical debt
  • Experience with Kubernetes and AWS technologies
  • Ability to think abstractly and deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems
  • 1+ years working remotely in a global environment

About the role

Key Skills & Experience

  • Understanding of modern testing principles.
  • You have 2-3 years of commercial experience working with the majority of our tech-stack.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
