As a Software Engineer in Trust and Safety, Tech Enablement at Google, you will develop next-generation technologies to ensure user safety and trust across Google products. This role involves working on mission-critical projects at a massive scale, proactively identifying and mitigating potential harms. You will be responsible for scoping, designing, testing, and deploying AI-powered features and components to automate and enhance T&S operations, troubleshoot and debug issues, and work across the full stack from AI model building to infrastructure development. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and participation in code reviews are also key aspects of this versatile role.

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of software development experience in programming languages
  • 5 years of software engineering experience
  • 3 years of experience debugging hardware, firmware, and software issues
  • Ability to scope, design, test, and deploy AI-leveraged features
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues for high-quality user experience
  • Work across the stack: AI models, experiments, infrastructure, tools
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on complex problems
  • Participate in and provide constructive feedback in code reviews

Good to Have

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • 3 years of experience with abuse detection
  • 3 years of experience with AI algorithms
  • Experience with Generative AI
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply on complex issues

Trust and Safety (T&S) is dedicated to promoting trust in Google and ensuring user safety, and we work to proactively identify and mitigate potential harms across all Google products and services. Our team takes a scalable approach to helping Google stay ahead of attackers, and strives to deliver trusted and safe experiences to all users.

We are a global team of experts, including technical analysts, data scientists, policy specialists, and data engineers, who collaborate with cross-functional partners across the company to defend our platforms. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Scope, design, test, and deploy new features and components that leverage AI to automate and enhance T&S operations, enabling teams to scale their user protection impact efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues, ensuring a high-quality user experience.
  • Work across the stack from building AI models, to performing experiments, improving quality, building infrastructure and tools, etc.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to solve ambiguous, testing, and impactful problems at the intersection of technology, automation, user protection, and AI.
  • Participate in code reviews, receive and give constructive feedback to peers.
