Software engineers develop next-generation technologies at massive scale. This role involves working on a specific project critical to Google’s needs, with opportunities to switch teams. Engineers are expected to be versatile, display leadership, and tackle new problems across the full-stack. The Platforms and Devices team focuses on computing software platforms and first-party devices, building innovative user experiences. Responsibilities include writing product/system development code, leading design reviews, reviewing code, contributing to documentation, and triaging product issues.

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year with an advanced degree in an industry setting
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture
  • Ability to write product or system development code
  • Ability to participate in or lead design reviews
  • Ability to review code developed by other developers
  • Ability to contribute to existing documentation or educational content
  • Ability to triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve

Good to Have

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields
  • 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
