Ansys, now part of Synopsys, is seeking a Software Development and Testing Intern for Spring 2026. This paid, full-time internship from January to April 2026 involves performing software development tasks, building automation tools for infrastructure processes, advancing software robustness by fixing defects, and learning best software practices like design and code reviews. The intern will work on building and maintaining the 3D geometry editor for electromagnetic simulation products. This role requires an individual pursuing a Master's or PhD in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field, who is currently enrolled in a full-time degree program. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and interest in programming, software development, testing, and experience with C/C++, Python, or Java. Familiarity with 3D geometry algorithms and CAD software development is a plus. The candidate should possess sharp problem-solving skills and tenacity.
Must have:
  • Pursuing MS/PhD in CS, ME, EE or related field
  • Full-time enrollment in a degree program
  • Knowledge/interest in programming, software dev/testing
  • Experience with C/C++, Python, or Java
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
Good to have:
  • Interest in 3D geometry algorithms
  • Experience with CAD software development

Thus, through our enriching internship program, we help develop the next-generation of engineers and technologists. As an Software Development and Testing Intern, you will join the Electronics Business Unit team responsible for the building and maintaining 3D geometry editor at the heart of electromagnetic simulation products.

This is a 40-hour per week paid position starting January 2026 and concluding April 2026. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform software development tasks
  • Build tools that automate software development/testing infrastructure processes.
  • Advance software robustness by fixing, and verifying defect fixes.
  • Learn and employ the best software practices including design and code review.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing a MS/PhD degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related technical field.
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and at the time of the internship program
  • Knowledge and interest in programming, software development and testing.
  • Experience with C/C++, Python or Java. Knowledge and interest in 3D geometry algorithms, and CAD software development is desired.
  • Sharp and tenacious with excellent problem-solving skills.
