Job Description

Ansys, a leader in computer-aided engineering (CAE) software, is seeking an intern to improve System Coupling software quality. This role involves model verification, validation, feature testing, and research-oriented projects. You will collaborate with skilled development and testing teams. The internship is full-time, running from January 2026 to April 2026, and requires active university enrollment. Responsibilities include testing and validating existing and new software features, assisting in automated tool creation, and conducting research activities within the System Coupling team, which focuses on multi-physics simulation.
Must have:
  • Pursuing Bachelors, Masters, or PHD in engineering or computer science.
  • Completed coursework in fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
  • Proficient with computers.
  • Interested in learning more about CAE.
Good to have:
  • Experience with Python and C++ programming.
  • Experience with numerical methods for engineering problems.

SUMMARY 

Ansys is a leading computer-aided engineering (CAE) provider, creating products which simulate physics such as fluid dynamics, heat transfer, structural dynamics, and electromagnetics.  It is used in power generation, marine, automotive, biomedical, and other industries.  Ansys Canada Ltd., located in Waterloo, is one of many locations worldwide that develops these products. Our people are at the forefront of CAE technology, developing and applying new models to continuously improve, enhance, and extend the software.  The System Coupling team within Ansys couples together various physics solvers to enable simulation of multi-physics phenomena such as fluid-structure interaction, conjugate heat transfer, electro-mechanical, and many others.
 

We have a co-op placement opportunity available for a CAE Software Development Support position.  The purpose of this position is to improve the System Coupling software quality through model verification, validation, feature testing, and other research-oriented projects.  You will work with the development and testing teams, who are highly skilled and motivated. This is a full-time position beginning in January 2026 and ending in April 2026, students must be actively enrolled in university. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Assisting the team in some or all of the following areas: 

  • testing and validating existing software features 

  • testing and validating new software features under development 

  • assisting in the creation of automated tools and tests 

  • research activities

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  • Pursing a Bachelors, Masters, or PHD in engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, mechanical or chemical engineering students with completed course work in fluid mechanics and heat transfer. If pursuing a bachelor’s level degree, must be 3rd or 4th year. 
  • Proficient with computers 
  • Interested in learning more about CAE 

BENEFICIAL SKILLS 

  • Experience with computer programming, especially Python and C++
  • Experience with numerical methods for solving engineering and physics problems
  • Experience working with simulation software
