Optiv is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join their Advanced Fusion center team. The role involves managing and enhancing security configurations for M365 environments and Azure workloads, including VMs, databases, and storage accounts. Responsibilities include implementing policies to protect M365 environments, conducting security assessments, and enforcing cloud governance policies. The engineer will also monitor cloud assets for vulnerabilities, conduct threat detection exercises, and drive incident response. The role requires working with business partners and IT teams to deliver effective solutions. This includes cloud development, code reviews, and working in a fast-paced environment. The individual will be required to work during US working hours.
Must have:
  • 5-8 years of Cloud security experience
  • Admin skills for AWS services
  • Knowledge of networking and cloud components
  • Experience with data storage like S3
  • Experience with compute like EC2
  • Experience in AWS technology
  • Knowledge of virtual application delivery technologies
  • Experience as a build and deployment engineer
  • Understanding of system architecture and management tools
Good to have:
  • Experience in analytics/machine learning
  • AWS certifications
  • Experience with automation/configuration management

Job Details

Optiv is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join the organization as a core team member of the Advanced Fusion center focusing on engineering and implementing the data and analytics platform for Optiv customers. This person will focus on the implementation AWS systems, configurations, automation, scripts, and integrations focused on security. There will be some exposure to Azure and other cloud tools, platforms, and other products. 

How you’ll make an impact

  • Manage and enhance security configurations for:

    • M365 Conditional Access

    • M365 Identity Governance

    • M365 Information Protection

    • M365 Compliance Dashboard

    • M365 Insider Risk

    • M365 Identity Protection

  • Implement policies to protect M365 environments from insider threats, identity-based attacks, and unauthorized access.

  • Maintain M365 compliance dashboards and conduct regular security assessments to identify gaps.

  • Define baseline security configurations for Azure workloads, including:

    • Virtual Machines (VMs)

    • Databases

    • Storage accounts

    • Identity & Access Management (IAM)

  • Monitor and assess cloud assets for vulnerabilities, threats, and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Conduct regular reviews of network configurations, IAM policies, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to enforce cloud governance policies.

  • Strengthen cloud workload security through hardening best practices.

  • Conduct regular threat detection and response exercises based on Indicators of Attack (IOAs) and Indicators of Misconfiguration (IOMs).

  • Validate and assess new software, configurations, and settings to ensure security best practices.

  • Implement policy-based Internet security requirements for cloud assets.

  • Drive incident response coordination for critical security issues impacting regulatory compliance.

What we’re looking for

  • 5-8 years of Cloud security is required

  • Must have admin skills for most of the AWS services and managed via the AWS console. Some understanding of Azure/Google cloud services 

  • Networking. VPC, load-balancers, other cloud network components, how cloud network works, networking to on-premise 

  • Data storage , S3, SQS 

  • Security , security groups, KMS, guardduty 

  • Compute, EC2, auto-scale 

  • Cloud --- cloud first architectures, design and presentation 

  • Experience in AWS technology, especially data lakes, data warehouses, integrations, scripts, automations, Databricks, ETL/data factories, and any SQL implementations. 

  • Proven knowledge of virtual application delivery technologies including knowledge of disaster recovery concepts. 

  • Experience as a build and deployment engineer using industry-standard tools. 

  • Experience with deployment tools and virtual lab management. 

  • Understanding of industry-standard system architecture and system management tools. 

  • Extensive experience, education, or certification in analytics methodologies in either machine learning or artificial intelligence a plus. 

  • Experience in the design, deployment, and support of large, complex systems. 

  • Experience in analytics and/or machine learning a plus. 

  • AWS certifications will make candidates stand out. 

  • This individual will work directly with business partners and other IT team members to understand desired system requirements and to deliver effective solutions 

  • Cloud Development including design, coding, unit testing, triaging and implementation 

  • Participate and conduct code reviews with scrum teams to approve for Production deployment 

  • Able to work in a fast paced, demanding, and rapidly changing environment 

  • Knowledge of Linux or Windows systems administration 

  • Experience with automation/configuration management using Ansible, Chef or similar 

  • Strong problem-solving skills with experience in investigating network threats and anomalies.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams

  • The role demands the availability for US working hours (5PM (IST) to 3AM (IST))

  • This role is Work From Office role.
