Job Description

CME Group is a leading derivatives marketplace seeking a highly-skilled and passionate Sr. Site Reliability Engineer. This role involves monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Markets trading applications, ensuring ultra-low latency performance and high capacity. The successful candidate will improve observability, influence reliability backlogs, support migration to Google Cloud Platform, automate tasks, contribute to incident response, and mentor junior SREs, all while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Good To Have:
  • Previous experience working in a DevOps or SRE role.
  • Previous experience working with metrics & monitoring, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana.
  • Experience and knowledge of working with distributed systems and working with Docker & Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, GCE, and/or GKE.
  • Good knowledge of networking (HTTP/TCP/UDP/IP).
  • Experience in Financial markets.
  • Experience with REST services and message-oriented middleware.
  • Experience working in an agile environment.
Must Have:
  • Collaborate with SRE leadership and product development teams to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot our Markets trading platform.
  • Continuously improve observability of applications enabling data-driven business decisions and faster incident detection and resolution.
  • Influence reliability backlog discussions with key stakeholders.
  • Elicit key SLIs and SLOs for products via user-journey distillations with Product leaders.
  • Support the migration of markets applications to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Assist in automating tasks to enhance system scalability and reliability.
  • Contribute to incident response, on-call rotation, and post-mortem analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for improved system reliability and performance.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies & latest industry trends.
  • Mentor and guide junior SREs.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux-based systems.
  • Experience with Cloud-based platform(s).
  • Programming/scripting skills (Python, Bash, Java).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Adaptable and flexible, demonstrating a positive and proactive approach towards change.
