Job Description

As a Senior Engineer in the Marketing Platform Automation division at PitchBook, you will lead engineering efforts for the Marketing technology stack, focusing on back-end and data-driven solutions. You'll ensure seamless integration and optimal performance across platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build robust, integrated systems aligned with strategic objectives. This role involves developing and maintaining automation solutions, mentoring team members, overseeing software estimations, and ensuring high code and test standards with scalability, reliability, and maintainability in mind. You will leverage expertise in Java, Python, workflow automation, web services, messaging frameworks, data platforms, cloud technologies, and containerization to build innovative solutions in B2B Marketing.
Must have:
  • Oversee design, development, and maintenance of automation solutions for revenue platforms.
  • Ensure highest quality code with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Ensure Martech systems (Marketo, Salesforce) are robust, optimized, and seamlessly integrated.
  • Lead efforts to enhance system performance, drive innovation, and implement scalable solutions.
  • Leverage expertise in Marketo ecosystem, Java, Python, data platforms, workflow automation, software architecture, messaging frameworks, and cloud technologies.
  • Ensure adoption of best practices in automation, web services, test automation, and cloud-native delivery.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Sales, and Enterprise Data Platform to align engineering efforts with business goals.
  • Oversee integrity of software estimations and ensure high standards of performance, reliability, and security.
  • Identify and resolve impediments, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Drive innovation within the revenue technology stack.
  • 7+ years experience in Software Engineering with deep experience in software integration and workflow automation.
  • Expert-level skills in Java, Python, and SQL.
  • Deep understanding of marketing automation platforms (e.g., Marketo) and related technologies ex: Sales Cloud.
  • Experience with containerization technologies, including Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Solid understanding of software development methodologies, Agile practices, and DevOps principles.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Experience in the financial industry or B2B platforms is a plus

As a Senior Engineer in the Marketing Platform Automation division, you’ll lead the engineering efforts driving our Marketing technology stack. You’ll ensure seamless integration and optimal performance across these platforms, with a strong focus on back-end and data-driven solutions. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our systems are robust, integrated, and aligned with the company's strategic objectives. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend technical expertise with leadership skills, driving impactful change in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

You will work with a team of talented engineers responsible for developing and maintaining automation solutions for our Marketing technologies. You’ll train and mentor team members, identify and resolve impediments, oversee the integrity of software estimations, and ensure that code and tests meet high standards while keeping scalability, reliability, and maintainability in mind.

This is a backend-focused role, leveraging your strong background in Java, Python, workflow automation solutions (ex: Workato), web services (REST/OpenAPI), messaging frameworks (Kafka), data platforms (Snowflake), cloud technologies (AWS/GCP), and containerization (Kubernetes/Docker) to build innovative solutions. You’ll use your strong knowledge of B2B Marketing business domains and tools to build complete solutions in marketing automation. You’ll ensure your team masters their discrete business domains, maintaining ownership and accountability for their deliverables. You oversee the development of strong test automation suites, aligning with automated build & CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native delivery.

Your responsibilities span across the Marketing as well as Sales & Customer Success Platform, each of which are cross-functional teams consisting of product management, product ownership, and engineers who are responsible for our core Revenue Technology stack.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of automation solutions for our revenue platforms. Ensure the highest quality code with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability. Your back-end expertise allows you to dive into the codebase when needed, ensuring alignment with best practices
  • Ensure that our Martech systems, particularly those centered around Marketo, Salesforce and its ecosystem, are robust, optimized, and seamlessly integrated. Lead efforts to enhance system performance, drive innovation, and implement scalable solutions that align with the company’s strategic objectives
  • Leverage your strong background in Marketo ecosystem, Java, Python, data platforms, workflow automation, software architecture, messaging frameworks, and cloud technologies to drive the technical direction of our revenue platforms. Ensure the adoption of best practices in automation, web services, test automation, and cloud-native delivery
  • Work closely with Product Management, Sales, and Enterprise Data Platform to align engineering efforts with business goals. Translate complex technical concepts into actionable business strategies to drive impactful change
  • Oversee the integrity of software estimations and ensure high standards of performance, reliability, and security in the systems developed by your team. Vigilantly identify and resolve impediments, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope
  • Drive innovation within the revenue technology stack. Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, tools, and systems, ensuring our technology remains at the cutting edge

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years experience in Software Engineering with deep experience in software integration and workflow automation, particularly in Sales, Customer Success, and Finance technology stacks
  • Expert-level skills in Java, Python, and SQL
  • Deep understanding of marketing automation platforms (e.g., Marketo) and related technologies ex: Sales Cloud
  • Experience with containerization technologies, including Kubernetes and Docker, and an understanding of how to build cloud-scale delivery, including scalability, resiliency, and recoverability
  • Solid understanding of software development methodologies, Agile practices, and DevOps principles
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and scalability
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Experience in the financial industry or B2B platforms is a plus

Working Conditions

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
