Job Description

As a Sr. Staff Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and managing shared infrastructure automation for US federal and sovereign cloud environments. You will improve the security of CI/CD systems, automate change management processes, define and enforce DevOps standards, and automate the build-out of new Zscaler clouds. You'll also participate in on-call rotation to support the engineering platform. Zscaler is looking for an experienced Sr. Staff Software Engineer to join their team. The role involves working with public cloud platforms, Infrastructure as Code tools, and designing and analyzing large-scale distributed systems.
Good To Have:
  • Experience with FedRamp authorization levels
  • Experience in continuous monitoring, vulnerability scanning, etc.
  • Experience with multiple cloud providers and databases
Must Have:
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial services development
  • Experience with public cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as Code tools
  • Skilled in programming languages such as Go
  • Expertise in designing and resolving issues in distributed systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent

We’re looking for an experienced Sr. Staff Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Engineering, you will:

  • Develop and manage shared infrastructure automation for US federal, regulated, and sovereign cloud environments.
  • Improve security of CI/CD systems and automate change management processes.
  • Define and enforce DevOps standards, best practices, and procedures across the engineering team.
  • Automate the build-out of new Zscaler clouds and create delivery mechanisms for operational collateral.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support a highly available engineering platform and ensure compliance with federal guidelines.
What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial services development and working with public cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Ansible and skilled in programming languages such as Go.
  • Expertise in designing, analyzing, and resolving issues in large-scale distributed systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, IT, or an equivalent field.
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience with High/Moderate FedRamp authorization levels (IL5/IL6 is a plus).
  • Experience in continuous monitoring, vulnerability scanning, patching, and reporting.
  • Experience with multiple cloud providers (AWS, Azure) and both relational and non-relational databases for microservices.
