Job Summary

This Staff DevOps Engineer role at Palo Alto Networks offers an exciting opportunity to transform cloud infrastructure and engineering platforms, enhancing engineering productivity. The role involves managing and improving the reliability, performance, and scalability of production systems, automating operational processes with IaC and CI/CD, implementing SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, building observability systems, participating in on-call rotations, and collaborating with developers to design resilient systems. The engineer will also contribute to continuous improvement in deployment, configuration, and release management, and optimize cost and resource utilization.

Must Have

  • Manage and improve reliability, performance, and scalability of production and pre-production systems.
  • Automate operational processes using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement and monitor SLIs/SLOs/SLAs to measure and improve service reliability.
  • Build and maintain observability systems (metrics, logging, and distributed tracing).
  • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response; drive post-incident reviews and RCA.
  • Collaborate with developers to design systems with resilience and failure-tolerance in mind.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in deployment, configuration, and release management.
  • Optimize cost and resource utilization across environments.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Software Developer.
  • Deep understanding of Engineering Productivity tools and platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management systems (Ansible or equivalent).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Helm) and secrets management.
  • Experience in any public cloud with good understanding of Cloud Technologies.
  • Linux, containers, Kubernetes experience.
  • Development experience preferably in Python / Go.
  • API Development with web frameworks (like FastAPI).
  • Experience with build and test frameworks.
  • Significant SRE experience.

Good to Have

  • Prior experience building CI/CD using Gitlab, Vault, Artifactory, Spinnaker etc.
  • Fullstack experience (React or equivalent).
  • Knowledge on ML / AI, MLOps etc.
  • AWS and GCP experience.

Your Experience

  • 2+ years of experience as a Software Dev
  • A deep understanding of Engineering Productivity tools and platforms
  • Hands on experience with configuration management systems (ansible or equivalent) infrastructure as code tools (terraform, helm) and secrets management
  • Should have worked in any one public cloud and has good understanding of Cloud TechnologiesLinux, containers, kubernetes experience
  • Development experience preferably in Python / Go
  • API Development with web frameworks (like FastAPI)
  • Experience with build and test frameworks
