In this role, you combine strategic insight with design and research experience to develop digital solutions that make the work of legal professionals smarter, more consistent, and more efficient. You don't work on small optimizations, but redesign complete work processes, from research and concept to high-fidelity prototype and validation with users.
What will you do?
As a Strategic UX Designer, you are part of the product team that works on improving the workflows of our lawyers and clients. You work on solutions that not only improve the work of legal professionals but ultimately also directly contribute to a better experience for clients and end-users. These knowledge-intensive processes form the core of how legal information is processed, enriched, published, and ultimately reaches the user.
In doing so, you respond to the latest possibilities of AI to simplify, accelerate, and enrich workflows. You contribute directly to our broader mission: making legal information more accessible, understandable, and impactful for professionals and end-users.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Leading the UX design process for complex editorial workflows and tools.
- Planning, executing, and analyzing user research and usability tests.
- Translating research insights into concepts, wireframes, and prototypes.
- Designing and validating scalable, user-friendly solutions that align with business goals and user needs.
- Exploring and applying AI-driven possibilities in the design and product strategy.
- Ensuring consistency through design system principles and contributing to their further development.
- Collaborating with product manager, engineers, and legal domain experts to translate ideas into concrete improvements.
- Presenting and substantiating design choices based on research and best practices.
- Sharing knowledge with team members and contributing to a strong UX culture.
Who are you as a professional?
- +5 years of relevant experience in UX design, at least one role in a product or platform environment.
- Demonstrable experience designing in a context where speed and innovation are important (preferably startup or scale-up experience, or a comparable entrepreneurial product team within a larger organization).
- In-depth knowledge of user-centered design, UX research, and iterative work.
- Strong in designing complex user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes.
- Experience with user testing and translating results into concrete improvements.
- Proficient in developing, applying, and maintaining design systems.
- Experience with or interest in designing AI-supported workflows is a plus.
- Fluent in Dutch, with a sense of context within legal or government domains.
- Available to work two days a week on-site in Venlo (Tuesday and Thursday).
Who are you as a person?
- You combine strategic thinking with practical execution and know how to translate vision into tangible results.
- You are curious and driven to explore, apply, and actively experiment with new technologies — especially AI — in design processes.
- You effortlessly switch between detail level and helicopter view and know how to make the right design choices based on impact.
- You dare to question assumptions and conventions, substantiate choices sharply and convincingly.
- You work independently and take ownership, but also actively seek collaboration and knowledge exchange within the team.
- You have a clear user and customer-oriented mindset and think in solutions that deliver real value for end-users.
- You feel at home in an environment where innovation, speed, and continuous improvement are central.
What do we offer?
A market-conform salary and a nice package of secondary employment conditions such as:
- Bonus scheme
- Work-from-home allowance
- Collective health insurance
- Good commuting arrangement including bicycle plan
- Good pension scheme
- A challenging and innovative job (32 to 36 hours per week)
