Job Description

The Supervisor, Production will supervise and coordinate the Molding Department personnel's duties to produce quality products that meet customer requirements. Responsibilities include supervising, scheduling, and directing hourly employees, expediting material flow, reviewing documentation, coordinating with other departments, and conducting employee evaluations. They will also provide on-the-job training and ensure adherence to company policies. The role requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft applications, and the ability to work on multiple tasks. The Supervisor will interact with others in the same work area and a manufacturing environment working with machinery and others in various locations within the department.
Must have:
  • Supervise and direct hourly employees reporting to Molding.
  • Expedite the flow of materials, components, and assemblies.
  • Review work orders, specifications, and material lists.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Warehouse personnel.
  • Coordinate on-the-job training for molding department staff.
  • Review employee performance and conduct evaluations.
  • Math skills including the ability to apply common concepts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and write legibly.

Summary: 

Supervise and coordinate the duties of the personnel assigned to the Molding Department to produce quality product that meet customer requirements in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, schedule, and direct the tasks of hourly employees reporting to Molding.
  • 2nd and 3rd shift Molding Supervisors will oversee employees assigned to Automation Department ensuring safety, performance and daily attendance. 
  • Expedite the flow of materials, components, and assemblies within or between departments. 
  • Review documentation such as work orders, production specifications, molded components and raw material inventory lists.   Interact with JDE system to ensure work order accuracy once completed.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Quality Assurance and Warehouse personnel daily concerning materials, quality issues and scheduling.
  • Coordinate on-the-job training necessary for personnel assigned to the molding department and ensure that employees complete training in a timely manner.
  • Review performance of employees and conduct evaluations.  Mentor and coach employees to improve performance and teamwork. 
  • Other duties as assigned by departmental management  
  • Adhere to all Atrion policies including safety, attendance, and personal hygiene requirements per the Atrion Employee Handbook.

  • Math skills including the ability to apply common concepts including fractions.

  • A self-starter with the ability to work on more than one task at a time.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Education:

BS in a business related discipline preferred or a combination of education and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands:

Up to 1/3 of time is spent standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and reaching

with the hands and arms.  2/3 and more of time is spent sitting, talking and listening. 

Less than 1/3 of time may be spent lifting up to 50 pounds. 

Work Environment:

The work environment described here is representative of that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee’s time will be divided between an office environment interacting with others in the same work area and a manufacturing environment working with machinery and others in various locations within the department.  The noise level will vary from quiet to moderately loud depending upon the tasks being performed.
