Job Description

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer II to lead customer presentations, perform system staging, complete documentation, and execute live system upgrades, ensuring architecture integrity. This role involves field engineering duties for radio system upgrades, deploying network gear, Windows-based devices, virtual machines, and proprietary Motorola devices. The engineer will serve as a customer-facing technical resource, primarily traveling to Texas, Oklahoma, and Western customer locations. Essential skills include direct customer interaction and strong communication abilities.
Good To Have:
  • Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE
  • Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge of IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS)
  • Certifications through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar
  • Previous knowledge and experience working with some or all of Juniper, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel, Xtreme, Ceragon

The Motorola Solutions team comprises Sales, Project Management, Systems Engineering and System Technologist personnel working together in a high performance culture, often with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations as we work to deploy mission critical communication systems.

Many of these systems are designed around the APCO Project 25 communications standard, often with interfaces to other critical customers' sub-systems. With the growth of data services some of our customers’ mobile wireless networks are being enhanced with connectivity to an LTE infrastructure, leveraging compelling applications and live mobile video, supplementing our traditional core voice and narrow-band data networks.

Individuals will be responsible for carrying out field engineering duties during a radio system upgrade cycle. He/she will be responsible for upgrading/deploying various devices which include network gear, Windows-based devices, virtual machines and Motorola proprietary devices. Along with above duties, individuals will be a customer facing technical resource through the upgrade effort. He/She will be primarily traveling to Texas and Oklahoma and Western customer locations to carry out their duties.

Specific Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE highly desirable
  • Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge of IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS) highly desirable
  • Certifications through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar, highly desirable

50-60% travel is required for upgrade projects.
