Job Description

The role provides leadership and direction to evolution of the Email platform. It involves ensuring alignment with Telstra’s strategic goals as well as Product requirements. It also entails making technology assessment and strategic investment recommendations based future trends. This role will be pivotal in the successful delivery of enhanced Email products.
Must have:
  • Design and lead deployment of complex email systems and network technologies
  • Translate customer and regulatory requirements into scalable and cost-effective solutions
  • Drive the automation, orchestration, and integration of Telstra’s email platforms
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities and contribute to strategic selection and delivery alignment
  • Develop platform-specific roadmaps that anticipate future business needs and technology trends
  • Maintain lifecycle documentation, architecture governance, and platform transition plans
  • Provide platform support aligned to Telstra's DevOps principles and operational standards
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and represent Telstra in industry forums
  • Lead technical strategy for Bigpond platform evolution
  • Ensure architectural solutions are scalable, reusable, and aligned to CTO&I roadmaps
  • Influence Telstra’s technology blueprints and vendor roadmaps
  • Provide expert guidance on key architectural KPIs and end-user experience goals
  • Support product groups to develop high-performing email services
  • Manage end-of-life transitions and implement platform migrations where required
  • Foster cross-functional partnerships and external stakeholder alignment

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to own the architectural roadmap of Telstra’s Email platform, critical to customer connectivity and satisfaction. You'll be collaborating across technical and strategic teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and future-ready infrastructure. Whether it's integrating new technologies, shaping vendor relationships, or driving platform excellence, you'll be at the centre of Telstra’s technology innovation.

What You Will Do

  • Design and lead deployment of complex email systems and network technologies

Key Responsibilities

About You

You are a highly skilled network and email systems specialist with a passion for architecting critical infrastructure. You’ve worked with large-scale platforms and thrive in roles where technical leadership meets strategic execution.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • 10+ years in the hosting, email application or IP Networking domains
  • Bachelor's Or Master's degree in engineering (Telecommunications/Computer/Electronic) or Computer Science
  • Experience with top-tier telecommunications operators or major integrators
  • Strong understanding and appreciation of application engineering on high availability platforms
  • Experience in POP, IMAP, SMTP and DAV protocols
  • Understanding of RFC standards 5321, 5322
  • Hardware: Cisco, Dell; Storage: NetApp; OS: Centos, Red Hat, Ubuntu, XCP; Applications: email vendor applications or equivalent
  • Experience supporting live production networks and working with APIs
