Job Description

Valeo is seeking a System Engineer (Product Owner) in Tokyo, Shinagawa. This role involves acting as a technical customer interface, building trust, and supporting the project manager in technical communications and priorities. Key responsibilities include managing product development according to quality, cost, and timing, orchestrating engineering gates and technical reviews, managing change requests, and leading technical escalations. The role also requires defining and monitoring resource management with the project team and R&D management.
Must Have:
  • Gain customer trust and confidence through regular meetings and expected deliveries.
  • Support project manager for all technical customer communications and priorities.
  • Manage product development according to quality, cost, and timing requirements.
  • Orchestrate Engineering Gates, Technical Management Meetings, and Technical Committees.
  • Manage change requests with project managers.
  • Arbitrate/orchestrate projects with various disciplines (system, software, validation, mechanic, electronic).
  • Deliver monthly updated planning for system, software, validation, and mechatronics activities.
  • Apply defined processes, methodologies, and tools for state-of-the-art developments.
  • Lead technical escalations from analysis to closure and report progress.
  • Implement Lessons Learned to improve standards.
  • Define, agree, and monitor resources with the project team and R&D management.

Technical customer interface

  • Gain the customer trust and confidence participating in regular customer meetings and by delivering as expected by the customer
  • Support the project manager for all technical customer communications
  • Support the project manager to agree on the customer priorities for the technical topics

Product development

  • Manage development according to quality, cost and timing requirements by assuring effective Technical and Design Reviews, by orchestrating Engineering Gates (chairperson), Technical Management Meetings and Technical Committees and by supporting the system project manager as chairman during requirements control board meetings
  • Manage change requests with the projects managers
  • Arbitrate / orchestrate projects with all disciplines (system, software, system validation, mechanic, electronic, validation)
  • Deliver monthly an updated planning (6 months for system, software and validation activities and 18 months for mechatronics activities)
  • Apply the defined processes, methodologies and tools necessary to state of the art developments
  • Lead technical escalations, issues from analysis to closure and report progress to customer
  • Implement the Lessons Learned to improve the Standards and also in line with Discipline (system, software, system validation, mechatronic) standards

Resources management

  • Define, agree and monitor with the project team and R&D management for resources management.
