The Traveling Superintendent (Door and Trim) at UFP Site Built manages and coordinates all field operations for assigned jobs, ensuring consistency with cost, profit, quality, safety, customer service, and subcontractor objectives. This role involves 100% travel from Georgia to Virginia, overseeing the installation of projects, coordinating with various stakeholders, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety on job sites. The superintendent is also responsible for paperwork, audits, and representing UFP with customers and subcontractors.
Must have:
  • Coordinate and monitor subcontractor performance.
  • Coordinate and install entire projects.
  • Ensure contract obligations and code acceptance are met.
  • Daily coordination with PM, subs, customers, and UFP facilities.
  • Process required paperwork accurately and daily.
  • Conduct safety and cleanup audits.
  • Maintain an organized and clean job-site.
  • Attend preconstruction meetings and provide input.
  • Comply with and enforce company policies.
  • Attend required training sessions.
  • Attend company and customer meetings.
  • Maintain a positive company image.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
  • Ensure a safe job-site.
  • Act as primary UFP representative for the job.
  • Keep management informed of progress/problems.
  • Review plans, specifications, and shop drawings for compliance.
  • Develop and monitor delivery schedules.
  • Interact with Sales, Design, Production, and transportation departments.
  • Establish and manage quality standards for field operations.
  • Ensure field operations conform to all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Prepare various reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Manage, track, and project trim and hardware material amounts.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in door and trim industry.
  • Knowledge of new construction aspects.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents.
  • Ability to interact successfully with all organizational levels and the public.
  • Proficient in computer and business software.
  • High commitment and individual responsibility.
  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to delegate, manage multiple activities, organize, prioritize, meet deadlines, and prepare plans/budgets.
  • Possess or acquire Valid Driver’s License within 60 days.
  • Possess or acquire Valid Forklift Operator’s License within 60 days.
  • Possess or acquire Medical First-Aid and CPR certificate within 60 days.
  • Physically able to walk, climb, lift, carry, and use hands extensively.
  • Able to work in confined spaces, heights, loud noises, and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work mandated hours/shifts and pass a drug test.
  • Ability to travel, use office machines, and lift 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of all applicable codes and standards.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and leadership.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel and stay out of town for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work some weekends.

Job Details

UFP Site Built is the leader in designing and manufacturing value-added wood and non-wood products for the construction industry. We offer a wide variety of wood structural components, aluminum decks and rails, and light gauge steel structural components.

The Traveling Superintendent (Door and Trim) is responsible for the overall management and coordination of all field operations for jobs assigned to them consistent with cost, profit, quality, safety, customer service, sub-contractor and overall job coordination objectives.

Travel: 100% Monday-Friday, areas of travel will be from Georgia to Virginia

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates & monitors performance of subcontractors, evaluates performance and initiates corrective action as required.
  • Responsible for coordination and installation of the entire project
  • Ensure performance to fulfill all contract obligations of UFP and code acceptance
  • Coordinate with Pm, subs, customers, and other UFP facilities daily
  • Process required paperwork neatly, correctly and daily
  • Performs safety and cleanup audits and reviews with subs with a goal of continuous improvement
  • Keep the job-site organized and clean
  • Attend preconstruction meetings, provide input on work scopes and contracts, review shop drawings prior to production
  • Comply with and enforce all company policies
  • Attend the training sessions for your position offered by the company
  • Attend company and customer meetings
  • Maintain positive company image (appropriate language, dress, and behavior)
  • Maintain and use your Personal Protective Equipment at all times
  • Ensure a safe job-site
  • Be the primary UFP representative for the job with the customer and subs and coordinate all communications between customers, UFP and our subcontractors
  • Keep management advised of progress/problems Review plans, specifications and shop drawings and coordinate all and insure compliance
  • Develop delivery schedule and communicate to all departments and subs, monitor progress and take action as required to insure timely completion of projects Interacts with Sales, Design, Production and transportation departments to deliver a seamless quality project to the owner.
  • Establishes quality standards for field operations and initiates and manages quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensures that field operations conform to Company, Federal, State and local laws, rules and regulations
  • Prepares various reports as required
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Work, and Excel document
  • Ability to manage, track, and give projected amounts of all trim and hardware materials needed on assigned jobsites

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in the door and trim industry
  • Knowledge of all aspects of new construction
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand plans, specifications and construction documents
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and business related software.
  • High level of commitment and individual responsibility
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to delegate work, manage several activities or projects at once, organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines and prepare plans and budgets.
  • Have or are able to acquire the following within 60 days: Valid Driver’s License, Valid Forklift Operator’s License, Medical First-Aid and CPR certificate
  • Able to walk, climb ladders, lift and carry heavy/awkward objects, use hands extensively
  • Must be on their feet all day and able to handle confined space, heights, loud noises, cold weather, hot weather, and dangerous tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work hours and shifts mandated by management and pass a drug test.
  • Demonstrated ability to be mobile in the work environment, travel as required, use basic office machines and lift 50#’s.
  • Knowledge of all applicable codes and standards
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Have the ability to travel and stay out of town for extended periods of time
  • Some weekend work required
