Job Summary
DECK 13 Interactive, a Frankfurt-based game development studio, seeks a UI/UX Designer to craft unforgettable gaming experiences. The role involves driving UI feature design, tuning, implementation, and polish, coordinating with various departments, and developing efficient design workflows. The designer will also provide expert UX insights for gameplay features, demonstrating high ownership and resourceful problem-solving to contribute to titles like Lords of the Fallen and The Surge series.
Must Have
- Drive design, tuning, implementation and polish of UI features
- Coordinate interdepartmentally with artists, sound designers, programmers and animators
- Develop and improve generic logics and systems for efficient design workflow
- Support gameplay features with expert UX insight and solutions
- Demonstrate high ownership and responsibility
- Resourcefully navigate constraints and find creative solutions
- Significant experience with visual scripting systems, like Unreal Engine Blueprints
- Strong experience of Unreal Engine 5, particularly of UI-related tools and systems
- 2+ years of experience in the field of UI and/or UX Design
- Deep knowledge of user experience in interactive application
- Experience with standard industry software such as Photoshop and Illustrator
- Analytical thinking with the capacity to quickly understand game design rules, mechanics, balancing concepts and techniques
- Ability to understand and communicate technical issues from an aesthetic point of view
- Team Player with strong interpersonal and communication skills with willingness to learn new techniques and share knowledge openly
- Experience in the gaming industry
- Full professional English proficiency
Good to Have
- Proficiency in C#, C++ or any other programming language
- Good knowledge of 3rd person melee combat games
- Experience driving the UX design of a project from pre-production to release
- Working knowledge of Graphics Mathematics (Vectors, trigonometry, matrices, Boolean logic, etc)
- Knowledge of rendering pipelines
- Knowledge of a shader language, experience writing and maintaining shaders
- Basic animation understanding

To continue our success story, we are now looking for you to join our team as our new UI/UX Designer (f/m/x).
Your Quest:
- Drive design, tuning, implementation and polish of UI features which support the project’s game and creative directions
- Coordinate interdepartmentally with artists, sound designers, programmers and animators to deliver high-quality fully integrated features within the defined deadlines
- Develop and improve generic logics and systems to empower an efficient and agile design workflow
- Support the development of gameplay features by providing expert insight and solutions to UX problematics
- Demonstrate a high level of ownership and responsibility in your day-to-day work and across disciplines
- Resourcefully navigate constraints and challenges by finding creative solutions to work around them
Your Toolkit:
- Significant experience with visual scripting systems, like Unreal Engine Blueprints
- Strong experience of Unreal Engine 5, particularly of UI-related tools and systems
- 2+ years of experience in the field of UI and/or UX Design
