Job Description

Evil Eye Pictures is seeking an accomplished Unreal Character Animator for a contract position. The role involves creating final animation for cinematic sequences using motion capture data and hand-keyed techniques, assembling and cleaning motion capture for bipedal motion, and owning hero shots from blocking to polish. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in film, television, or games, with a strong understanding of the CG animation pipeline and technical knowledge combined with creative instincts. Animation will be exclusively in Unreal Engine. The contract timeline is from August 4th/18th to October 15th, with a first hold through November 1st.
Good To Have:

  • Rigging experience
  • Develop cinematic pipelines and tools
  • Python or similar coding skills
Must Have:
  • 5+ years of animation, games, or VFX experience
  • Keyframe character animation experience
  • Motion capture data experience

Unreal Character Animator (Contract)

Evil Eye Pictures is looking for an accomplished Unreal Character Animator. The ideal candidate will have minimum 5 years of professional experience in film, television and/or games, and a thorough understanding of the CG animation pipeline. A level of technical knowledge combined with strong creative and visual instincts is critical. This position requires animating exclusively in Unreal Engine. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create final animation for cinematic sequences using both motion capture data and hand-keyed techniques 

  • Assemble, clean and augment motion capture for bipedal motion 

  • Ownership of hero shots through animation blocking, refinement and polish stages

Contract Timeline:

  • Start Date: Between 8/4 and 8/18

  • End Date: 10/15 

  • First Hold through 11/01

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Animation, Games or Visual Effects

  • Experience keyframing character animation and working with motion capture data

  • Ability to collaborate and take direction from creative leads and the narrative team

  • Ability to work independently, problem solve on the fly, and collaborate efficiently across disciplines in a small, fast moving team

  • Experience with Unreal Engine, Unreal Control Rig and Sequencer

Good to have:

  • Experience using source control such as Perforce or Github

  • Experience rigging 

  • Helping develop cinematic pipelines and tools.

  • Python or similar coding skills

This is a full time position. This position is remote as we support a Virtual Studio.

Virtual Studio core hours of Operation are 9am to 5:30pm PST - Monday through Friday

CA Pay Transparency Information:

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Evil Eye's benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

Base Pay Range $35-65 per hour.
