About the role

This role is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and overseeing manufacturing of electrical equipment, systems, and components.  This role works on projects from concept through to implementation and handover. This role also is critical in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of electrical operations within the facility.

Key responsibilities

  • System Design and Engineering
    • Design and develop utility systems for new and existing facilities.
    • Create detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
    • Perform calculations and simulations to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Operations and Maintenance
    • Oversee the operation and maintenance of utility systems.
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with utility systems and facilities management.
  • Project Management
    • Manage utility infrastructure projects from conception through completion.
    • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
    • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure all utility systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Prepare and submit required reports and documentation.
    • Stay updated on changes to regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Energy Management
    • Monitor and analyse utility usage to identify opportunities for energy savings.
    • Implement energy efficient technologies and practices.
    • Develop and track key performance indicators related to utility efficiency.
  • Safety and Risk Management
    • Develop and implement safety protocols for utility system operations.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
    • Train staff on safe operation and emergency response procedures.
  • Technical Support
    • Develop and implement safety protocols for utility system operations.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
    • Train staff on safe operation and emergency response procedures.
  • Daily management of PM deviations (assignment of tasks, launch, closure and reactivation of equipment out of use in SAP)
  • Prepare or review operating procedures for machines and facilities,preventive maintenance check sheets, maintenance plans, calibration andenvironmental sampling, etc.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities associated with the BMS temperature and humidity monitoring system.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities associated with the BMS Desigo pressure rooms monitoring system.
  • Issue PTW when required in operation and maintenance improvements in collaboration with the infrastructure supervisor.
  • Support equipment, installations and BMS systems qualification
  • Collaborate in corporate and external audits, Gembas.

Qualifications and skills

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering or related field. 
  • 3- 5 years of experience in electrical engineering within a manufacturing environment preferably overseeing utility systems and facilities management.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering principles and safety regulations. 
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards (E.g., NFPA 70, OSHA).
  • Strong analytical and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
