Job Description

As a UX Engineer at Google Ads, you'll contribute to first-party tools and applications, implementing creative solutions to UX and engineering problems. You'll design front-ends, collaborate with stakeholders, and work in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include implementing and updating user experiences, participating in project meetings, identifying UX/technical issues, developing prototypes, evaluating new features, collaborating with other UX Engineers, and building core features. You'll need strong front-end development skills, experience in UX design, and the ability to collaborate effectively.
Must have:
  • 4+ years front-end development experience
  • Experience designing across multiple platforms
  • Proficiency in modern web frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
  • Experience with Google Material Design and Figma
  • User-centric development approach
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
Good to have:
  • Cloud backend experience (GCP, Firebase)
  • Advanced HTML, CSS/Sass, JavaScript, TypeScript skills

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in front-end development, technical UX design, or prototyping.
  • Experience designing across multiple platforms, and working with technical/design teams to create user flows, wireframes, and building user interface mock-ups and prototypes.
  • Experience with one modern web front-end frameworks and programming languages: Angular, ReactJS, NextJS, Python, Typescript, etc.
  • Experience with Google Material Design libraries, Figma, and a user-centric development approach.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience with Cloud back-ends (e.g., GCP), Firebase or Google3 infrastructure.
  • Experience with Advanced HTML, CSS/Sass, JavaScript, Typescript, Lit Elements, Web Components, Web Animations, etc.
  • Familiarity with agile principles and practices, including quick-to-launch, iterative development, and predictable delivery.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with both business and product stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, ambiguous, sensitive, and technical environment.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to adapt and take ownership.

As a UX Engineer, you'll work as part of a UX team in a challenging, fast-paced environment. In this role, you will be contributing to our ecosystem of first-party tools and applications, implementing creative solutions to UX and Engineering problems, designing beautiful pixel-perfect front-ends, and collaborating with cross-product area and cross-functional stakeholders on strategy and planning in a fast-paced environment.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive project work by implementing and updating the user experience by writing code.
  • Participate in project meetings with stakeholders (e.g., product managers, researchers) and provide technical input and inform project decisions on user experience development.
  • Identify user experience and technical issues. Develop prototypes from functional/technical specifications.
  • Evaluate potential and feasibility for new features by prototyping, soliciting feedback and analyzing problems from a broader technical perspective. 
  • Collaborate with other UX Engineers on the team to build core features, fix usability issues, write documentation and onboard new users to the tools.
